Job Description:

Position Purpose:

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and coordination of DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) project activities. The implementation strategy will follow a sequential, integrated approach that builds upon community engagement, capacity development, and the adoption of sustainable practices.

The Coordinator will ensure timely and quality delivery of interventions in line with donor requirements, organizational standards, and community needs, with a particular focus on building resilience among vulnerable households in both host and camp populations.

The role requires strong leadership qualities, along with both depth and breadth of technical and managerial expertise. The Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and supervision of staff, while ensure the security, feasibility, and sustainability of the program, and contribute to the achievement of intended project outcomes.

In addition, the Coordinator will support other projects within the FSLR (Food Security, Livelihoods, and Resilience) sector and contribute to new project planning in line with the sector's strategic priorities.

Key Objectives of the Position:

Project Planning & Implementation

  • Lead the day-to-day implementation of DRR project activities as per the approved work plan and budget
  • Coordinate rapid response support (Health, Education, Nutrition, etc.) to affected households
  • Conduct emergency needs assessments for children and vulnerable populations in targeted camp locations
  • Oversee upgradation of facilities and learning centers within the project scope

Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and share Situation Reports (SitRep) with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records of household-level visits, assessments, and case information of affected children and families
  • Track project indicators and contribute to monthly/quarterly progress reports

Coordination & Liaison

  • Maintain close communication and coordination with Site Management and Camp-in-Charge (CiC) for service delivery
  • Represent the project in sectoral-level coordination meetings, sharing updates and advocating for vulnerable households
  • Liaise with local government, camp authorities, and other humanitarian actors for smooth project operations

Community Engagement & Protection

  • Raise awareness among vulnerable households on disaster preparedness, particularly for landslide and flood risks
  • Support community-based DRR planning and early warning mechanisms
  • Ensure child protection and safeguarding principles are integrated into all field activities

Team & Resource Management

  • Supervise field staff/volunteers involved in DRR activities
  • Ensure efficient use of project resources and compliance with organizational and donor policies

The position is accountable for the following:

Project management and others:

  • Manage the assigned project(s) to meet the project objectives within budget, set time frame, quality, and standards
  • Provide strong leadership of the assigned project(s), working to ensure both short/long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries, local authorities (where applicable), and local staff.
  • Develop and implement an appropriate and effective project strategy, setting clear objectives and indicators, for Livelihoods & entrepreneurship development activities in consultation with other staff and youth and women entrepreneurs and, where appropriate, with the local communities
  • Mainstream protection, accountability, gender, disability, and environmental protection
  • All documents guiding implementation, such as budgets, DIPs, and projections, are prepared, updated, and used correctly
  • Ensure needs assessments and surveys are conducted, data analyzed, and suggestions made for appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of project implementation.
  • Timely Submission of quality narrative reports to the line manager on project progress, program team, and donors.
  • Work with the FSLR team to develop a new project proposal, planning, and budgeting as per the supervisor's direction.

Staff Management:

  • Line manages the staff(s) of the assigned project(s), including day-to-day management, development and training etc.
  • Take responsibility for discussing job expectations; appraise performance against set objectives regularly.
  • Overall responsibility for staff work plans, vacation schedules, and development activities, and maintain a professional and open relationship with team members, promoting a strong spirit and providing oversight and guidance to allow for successful team performance.
  • Staff coaching and technical supervision for their development.

Coordination and networking:

  • Maintain and create strategic partnerships and networks with donors, the UN, and other NGOs.
  • Actively participate in Cluster meetings to ensure WV programming information is shared and requests for cluster mechanisms are responded to.
  • Keep and share information from NGO meetings, government correspondence, and internal World Vision Lessons Learned.
  • Ensure that World Vision is represented in coordination forums and review meetings.
  • Foster formal government at all levels and community engagement and coordination

Financial Management:

  • Manage the DRR assigned project and ensure all expenses are according to budget and meet donor standards for financial management, including accountability and good governance.
  • Manage the program budget through the passing of timely orders, the preparation of monthly forecasts, and the monitoring of expenditure.

Spiritual Leadership:

  • Exhibit spiritual maturity, integrity, and a dynamic personal sense of life calling.

Knowledge, Skill & Experience:

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Disaster Management, Social Science, Development Studies, or related field
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in DRR, humanitarian response, or camp-based programming
  • Experience working with displaced populations, camp coordination structures (CCCM/CiC), and INGOs/NGOs preferred
  • Strong understanding of DRR frameworks, Sphere standards, and child protection principles
  • Knowledge of DRR & Climate Change Adaptation Intervention, System Strengthening & Networking, Livelihood, Group Management, etc.
  • Reporting and accounting experience needed
  • Experience in project implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and report writing.
  • Good at communication, interpersonal skills, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Familiar with the various tools used in the field for program monitoring
  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Knowledge of MS Office, websites, Outlook, and Lotus Notes
