As a Principal Tech Lead, you will provide technical leadership across multiple squads, ensuring architectural vision is translated into high-quality, production-ready solutions. Working closely with Mission Architects, Squad Tech Leads, DevSecOps, QA, Security, and Product teams, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the successful delivery of strategic technology initiatives that support Worldline's payment platforms across Europe.\nDay-to-Day Responsibilities\nLead the technical design and implementation of complex initiatives spanning multiple engineering squads\nPartner with Squad Tech Leads to solve high-risk and high-complexity technical challenges and accelerate delivery\nAct as a hands-on technical contributor where deep expertise is required, contributing to critical solution design and software implementation\nTranslate architectural guidance into practical engineering patterns, reusable frameworks, and reference implementations\nDrive architectural modernization initiatives, supporting platform evolution, cloud adoption, and technology transformation\nCollaborate closely with Mission Architects, DevSecOps, QA, Security, and Product teams to ensure solutions meet functional and non-functional requirements\nIdentify systemic engineering challenges and improvement opportunities, escalating recommendations to Guild Leads and Architects\nChampion engineering best practices, technical quality, and operational excellence across multiple squads\nSupport technical decision-making, risk management, and cross-team dependency planning\nMentor Tech Leads and senior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing throughout the engineering organization\nWho are we looking for\nYou are an experienced technical leader who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges while enabling teams to deliver their best work. You combine deep technical expertise with strong collaboration skills and have a proven ability to influence engineering direction across multiple teams. You thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.\nOn top of that, you have:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience\nFull working proficiency in English\nExtensive experience as a Principal Engineer, Principal Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, Lead Software Engineer, or similar senior technical leadership role\nProven experience leading complex, cross-team software delivery in enterprise environments\nStrong expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and modern engineering practices\nExperience driving architecture modernization, platform transformation, and technical strategy\nExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve high-impact technical risks\nStrong experience mentoring technical leaders and influencing engineering practices across multiple teams\nDeep understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability, security, scalability, resilience, and performance engineering\nExperience working within Agile product development organizations\nKnowledge of the payments industry is considered a strong advantage\nPerks & Benefits\nAt Worldline, you'll get the chance to be at the heart of the global payments technology industry and shape how the world pays and gets paid.
