Position Title: Country Director, Bangladesh

Department: Asia Ministry Team

Reports to: Chief Program and Implementation Officer (CPIO)

Status: Full-time, Salaried

Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Salary Level: $73,278.76 - $82,436.71 USD

PURPOSE OF POSITION

As a member of World Renew’s Asia Ministry Team, the Country Director for Bangladesh is responsible for leading, managing and implementing the Bangladesh country strategy to achieve World Renew’s vision of community transformation in alignment with World Renew’s values, standards and global strategic priorities.

This position acts as the in-country representative for World Renew in Bangladesh and represents World Renew to government entities, partners, alliances and donors. This position is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of all aspects of the country office in Bangladesh including administration, human resources and financial management.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and update the country strategy as required, ensuring alignment with regional strategy and with World Renew’s vision and global strategic priorities.
  • Develop and implement a multi-year operational plan that enables the achievement of the country strategy.
  • Develop and build relationships with partner staff, networks and alliances, with national religious leaders, with government representatives, with NGOs and any other appropriate national forums or strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and manage partner relationships to ensure the operational capacity to deliver the appropriate support to partners within the assigned geographic area, ensuring effective program consulting.
  • Develop a country funding and donor management strategy, in consultation with Global Support Teams and the Regional Director, to identify and secure a stable funding base to support the country's program needs.
  • Ensure financial oversight of the country budget.
  • Provide human resource leadership to all staff by ensuring compliance with human resource policies and practices, monitoring key workforce metrics, and overseeing effective recruitment, compensation, employee development, and staff care processes.
  • Ensure all staff are oriented to organisational policies, guidelines and best practices for their position, their conduct and their responsibilities in alignment with our commitment and adherence to the Core Humanitarian Standard.
  • Provide administrative oversight for all country office matters and assets, including supervision of staff, ensuring compliance to national laws, and ensuring security protocols are in place, monitored, maintained and reviewed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors and constituents, e.g., institutional partners, churches, partner agencies, international aid organizations and other donors. This includes actively supporting education and fundraising efforts which may include travel within Canada/USA, video conferencing and producing other multimedia content.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • An ability to relate to donors and diverse, international donors (granting institutions), including knowledge and oversight of project and grant management
  • Demonstrated competence in administration, human resources, financial/budgeting and fundraising
  • Demonstrated competence in all basic technical computer skills (project management, communications and reporting software applications)
  • Fluent in English with effective written and verbal communications skills is required
  • Fluency in a language widely used in the country is an asset

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in a cross-cultural international management or organizational development role working in a community development, disaster response, and/or organizational consultation environment of which three years management experience is required.
  • Master's Degree in a related field
  • Active Christian faith, participation in a local Christian community, ability to affirm World Renew’s Statement of Faith, and demonstrated commitment to Christ, Integral Mission, and faith integration in holistic programming.

  • Ability and willingness to travel in-country up to approximately 30%, including travel to remote, disaster-affected, fragile, and occasionally high-risk environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally, periodically.
