The Software Engineer (Java) is responsible for building and maintaining Java microservices and event-driven backend applications that support our business needs, working in a modern Spring Boot environment on AWS, and collaborating closely with front-end teams building Angular and React applications.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\nDevelop and maintain Java applications and microservices in development, test, and production environments.\nAdhere to coding and design guidelines used throughout our applications.\nCollaborate with the architecture team to define the development toolset.\nAssist in the organization's code review process.\nAssist in the development of technical requirements for Agile development teams.\nDevelop updates, corrections, and enhancements, including business logic in Java and SQL.\nIntegrate with internal and external systems using iPaaS, REST APIs, web services, EDI, XML, SQL, and asynchronous messaging (e.g., SQS, SNS, Kinesis, RabbitMQ).\nWork with DevOps teams to facilitate deployment of containerized code artifacts (Docker/Kubernetes) to AWS cloud environments.\nMonitor, troubleshoot, and support production systems using observability tooling (e.g., Datadog).\nResponsible for data security and web site intrusion defenses of Java applications.\nSupport the overall SDLC process including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) using Jenkins and GitHub Pipelines.\n\nREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES\nUnderstanding of the industry, specific WWEX business model, and unique relevant field.\n1–3 or more years of development experience using Java in a modern Spring Boot (3.x), Java 17+ microservices environment.\nExperience developing and deploying applications on AWS.\nBackground in creating multi-threaded Java applications.\nExperience with JDBC and relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, and familiarity with search technologies such as Elasticsearch.\nExperience with JPA and Hibernate, MyBatis, or similar persistence frameworks.\nExperience with Spring-based REST services.\nExperience creating applications with RESTful APIs/JSON, microservices, or service-oriented architecture.\nExperience with asynchronous messaging and event-driven architectures (e.g., SQS, SNS, Kinesis, RabbitMQ).\nExperience writing unit and integration tests (e.g., JUnit, Mockito) and familiarity with test-driven development.\nFamiliarity with containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.\nFamiliarity with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g., Datadog, metrics, distributed tracing).\nExperience developing enterprise software through several complete development lifecycles.\nExperience configuring CI/CD systems such as Jenkins or GitHub Pipelines.\nFunctional knowledge of Java-based IDEs and development tools.\n(Preferred) Exposure to TypeScript single-page applications (Angular or React) and micro-frontend architecture.\nExcellent troubleshooting skills.\nExcellent judgment and the ability to handle escalated situations.\nMotivated to learn and grow in experience and
