Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Sarnia, Ontario.\nAs a Lead Instrumentation Engineer, you will provide technical leadership and discipline oversight for instrumentation and control engineering activities across a variety of industrial projects. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will lead the development and delivery of safe, practical, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with quality, budget, and schedule commitments.\nThis role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring others, and collaborating closely with clients, project teams, and vendors to achieve successful project outcomes. Based in Sarnia, you will play a key role in the design, implementation, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems that improve facility performance, reliability, and operational excellence across EPC and EPCM project environments.\nResponsibilities:\nLead instrumentation and control engineering activities through all phases of project execution, from concept development and detailed design through construction support, commissioning, and startup.\nProvide technical leadership, oversight, and mentorship to instrumentation engineers, designers, and technical specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.\nDevelop, review, and approve instrumentation engineering deliverables including instrument indexes, datasheets, specifications, I/O lists, control narratives, logic diagrams, loop drawings, cause-and-effect matrices, and installation packages.\nDesign and specify field instrumentation, analyzers, control valves, safety systems, and associated automation infrastructure.\nSupport the development, integration, and optimization of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).\nParticipate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, SIL assessments, constructability reviews, and other project risk management activities.\nReview and evaluate vendor documentation, technical bid submissions, packaged equipment designs, and factory acceptance testing requirements.\nCollaborate effectively with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, civil, project management, and construction teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.\nEnsure all engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements while maintaining Worley's commitment to safety and technical integrity.\nSupport industrial automation, digital transformation, and control system cybersecurity initiatives where applicable.\nManage discipline budgets, schedules, forecasts, and resource requirements to ensure successful project delivery.\nBuild trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, serving as a technical advisor and contributing to the successful delivery of complex projects.\nSupport proposal development, project planning, estimating activities, and business growth opportunities.\nWhat you will bring:\nTechnical and Industry Experience:\nYou bring extensive experience leading instrumentation and control engineering activities within industrial facilities such as chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, energy, manufacturing, mining, or other process industries. \nYou have a strong understanding of instrumentation design, specification, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management, along with demonstrated experience delivering projects within EPC and EPCM environments.\nYou possess advanced knowledge of instrumentation and automation systems, including DCS, PLC, SCADA, and SIS platforms, and are comfortable working with industrial communication networks and protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, and Ethernet/IP. Your technical expertise is complemented by a practical approach to problem solving, allowing you to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop effective solutions in complex operating environments.\nYou are recognized as a collaborative and influential leader who can guide multidisciplinary teams, build strong client relationships, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. You are motivated by technical challenges, committed to continuous learning, and passionate about mentoring and developing others.\nSuccess in this role will be demonstrated through the successful delivery of instrumentation and control scopes on complex industrial projects, the ability to lead engineering teams through multiple project phases, and a proven track record of improving safety, reliability, operability, and project performance through innovative engineering solutions.\nMinimum 15 years of relevant instrumentation and control engineering experience.\nDemonstrated experience leading instrumentation engineering activities on multidisciplinary industrial projects.\nExperience working within EPC and EPCM project delivery environments.\nFunctional Safety certification and experience with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).\nExperience with control loop tuning, advanced process control, or automation optimization.\nExperience supporting commissioning, startup, and operational troubleshooting activities.\nExperience within chemical, petrochemical, refining, or other heavy industrial facilities\nEducation - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:\nRequired:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).\nFor applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $149,294 to $175,641 CAD.\nApplication of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.\nPlease note: No agency representation or submissions will be recognized for this vacancy.\nWorley is committed to providing a fair and equitable hiring process for all applicants.
