Worley is an Australian engineering and professional services company headquartered in North Sydney that delivers consulting, engineering, procurement, construction and asset operations for the energy, chemicals and resources sectors. Founded in 1971 and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, it works across conventional and low-carbon energy, chemicals and fuels, and mining and minerals, with specialist units such as Worley Chemetics and Worley Comprimo. Its postings cover piping, civil, electrical and marine engineers and designers, project engineers and planners, HSE technicians, craft recruiters and construction crafts such as pipefitters and equipment operators.

The Role

Join Worley Consulting's growing Power Networks team and contribute to some of Australia's most significant renewable energy and power system projects. Working across wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), hybrid developments and conventional generation assets, you'll support the delivery of grid connection and power system studies that are helping shape Australia's energy transition.

As a Power Systems Engineer, you will work alongside experienced specialists supporting projects across the National Electricity Market (NEM) and Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM). You'll gain hands-on experience across power system modelling, grid connection, commissioning and compliance activities while continuing to develop your technical expertise in a collaborative and supportive environment.

We are seeking a motivated engineer with a passion for power systems and renewable energy to join Worley Consulting's Power Networks team. This role offers excellent opportunities to build your technical capabilities while contributing to the successful delivery of renewable energy projects across Australia.

Working under the guidance of experienced engineers and technical leaders, you will support power system studies, modelling activities, technical documentation and project delivery tasks across a diverse portfolio of energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with power system studies and grid connection activities across renewable energy and conventional generation projects.
  • Support the preparation of connection enquiries and applications, technical reports and regulatory submissions.
  • Develop and maintain power system models using PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and related software tools.
  • Contribute to grid connection, commissioning and compliance activities under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Assist with data analysis, technical calculations and study assessments for client projects.
  • Support the preparation of Generator Performance Standard (GPS) documentation and associated technical reports.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and project delivery teams.
  • Develop an understanding of NEM and WEM requirements, including relevant regulatory frameworks and connection processes.
  • Maintain high-quality technical documentation and project records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, technical innovation and knowledge sharing within the team.

About You

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Typically 2-5 years of experience in power systems, utilities, renewable energy, consulting, generation, transmission and distribution, or a related industry.
  • An understanding of power system analysis, network studies or electrical engineering principles.
  • Exposure to power system modelling software such as PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or similar tools would be advantageous.
  • An interest in renewable energy, electricity networks and the energy transition.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with Python, automation tools or data analysis techniques would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to technical excellence.

Why You Should Apply

  • Work on some of Australia's most significant renewable energy and grid connection projects.
  • Develop your technical skills through hands-on project experience and exposure to industry-leading specialists.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • Professional development, technical training and clear career progression opportunities.
  • Access to a global network of experts and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Competitive remuneration, employee share plan opportunities and wellbeing support.
  • Paid parental leave, employee assistance programmes and inclusive workplace initiatives.

At Worley, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding energy projects while growing your technical capabilities in a supportive and collaborative environment. Whether you're building your expertise in renewable energy, grid connection or power system studies, you'll be supported to develop a rewarding long-term career.
