This role blends deep mechanical engineering expertise with strong team leadership, cross-discipline coordination, and accountability for quality, schedule, and budget performance across assigned projects.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nProject & Technical Leadership\nLead mechanical engineering scope on assigned projects, ensuring deliverables meet Worley, client, and regulatory requirements.\n\nOwn the mechanical engineering scope, schedule, and quality for assigned projects or project areas.\n\nProvide technical leadership and direction through all project phases including feasibility, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.\n\nDefine and manage mechanical scope in alignment with project execution plans and change management processes.\n\nParticipate in project meetings, design reviews, constructability reviews, and client engagements.\n\nProvide technical input to procurement activities including equipment specifications, requisitions, bid evaluations, vendor technical evaluations, and purchase order reviews.\n\nIdentify and manage technical risks and execution challenges, proposing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions in collaboration with the project team.\n\nTeam Leadership & Coordination\nLead, coordinate, and mentor mechanical engineers, designers, and discipline specialists assigned to projects.\n\nDefine work packages, assign resources, and manage workload distribution across the mechanical team, including workshare where appropriate.\n\nProvide coaching, technical oversight, and performance feedback to team members to ensure high-quality delivery.\n\nSupport the professional development of junior and intermediate mechanical engineers through mentoring and technical guidance.\n\nFoster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on safety, quality, and delivery excellence.\n\nQuality, Safety & Compliance\nEnsure all mechanical engineering deliverables comply with Worley standards, client specifications, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.\n\nEnsure compliance with project quality management systems, checking procedures, and document control processes.\n\nPromote and actively uphold Worley’s safety culture and values throughout all project activities.\n\nClient & Stakeholder Engagement\nAct as a primary mechanical engineering interface with clients, project managers, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams.\n\nSupport resolution of technical queries, scope clarifications, and interface issues between Worley and client teams.\n\nCommunicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of scope, priorities, resourcing, and execution strategies.\n\nContinuous Improvement & Technical Excellence\nMaintain awareness of emerging technologies, best practices, and innovations in mechanical engineering and equipment design.\n\nContribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards, tools, workflows, and execution methodologies.\n\nSupport knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and technical community initiatives within Worley’s Mechanical Engineering team.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS\nTechnical & Industry Experience\nStrong technical expertise and subject matter knowledge in one or more of the following project types:\nOil & Gas (Upstream, Midstream, Downstream)\n\nSAGD / Oilsands Facilities\n\nMining, Metals & Minerals\n\nCogeneration / Gas-to-Power\n\nEnergy Transition / Industrial Facilities\n\nProven ability to lead mechanical engineering scope on complex, multidisciplinary projects.\n\nStrong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including rotating equipment, static equipment, piping interfaces, materials, and equipment specifications.\n\nWorking knowledge of applicable local and international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, CSA, ISO).\n\nCompetent in MS Office Suite and relevant mechanical engineering design and calculation tools.\n\nDemonstrated experience delivering high-quality technical work within schedule and budget constraints.\n\nLeadership & Professional Skills\nDemonstrated experience leading technical teams within a project delivery environment.\n\nStrong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.\n\nAbility to balance technical excellence with practical, delivery-focused decision-making.\n\nPrevious supervisory, discipline lead, or technical authority experience preferred.\n\nEducation, Qualifications, Accreditation, Training\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.\n\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (or eligibility / active pursuit in accordance with internal requirements).\n\nMoving forward together\nWe’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone feels they belong, can bring themselves, and are heard.
