This is a full-time position based in Oakville, Ontario\nWorley is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer (Lead) based in Oakville, Ontario. This role provides mechanical engineering leadership for the design and delivery of process and utility equipment across MMM (Mining, Minerals and Metals) projects. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team; direct the development and review of specifications, design calculations, and drawings; support procurement and construction activities; and ensure deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Reporting to the Mechanical and Piping Engineering Department Manager (Canada East), this role partners closely with project teams, customers, and suppliers to enable safe, compliant, high-quality outcomes.\nThe ideal candidate is self-directed, collaborative, and results-oriented, with strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication capabilities, and a demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering challenges in regulated environments.\nResponsibilities:\nProvide mechanical engineering leadership from concept through commissioning, including equipment selection, system integration, and overall technical direction.\nLead the mechanical engineering project team in development, review, and approval of specifications, design calculations, and drawings for various mechanical equipment.\nEnsure engineering deliverables comply with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and Worley’s HSE and quality expectations.\nDeliver mechanical engineering services that meet Worley, customer, and statutory requirements, aligned to project schedules and budgets.\nContribute to studies and project execution activities, including estimates, schedules, and technical inputs.\nSupport procurement activities by developing RFQs, leading technical bid evaluations, and providing recommendations for vendor selection.\nReview and approve vendor drawings, calculations, shop drawings, and technical data to confirm alignment with project specifications and quality requirements.\nPartner with suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout procurement and vendor document cycles to enable timely delivery.\nMaintain working knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices; apply them consistently across deliverables.\nIdentify, communicate, and support the management of changes to study and project scope.\nStay current on emerging technologies and engineering practices to support continuous improvement and innovation.\nProvide professional engineering sign-off (stamp) on deliverables, where required and authorized.\nCoordinate and support design registration submissions with applicable authorities having jurisdiction (e.g., TSSA in Ontario), as required.\nCoach and mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and quality oversight.\nRepresent the mechanical discipline in client engagements, regulatory interactions, and quality assurance activities.\nLead or participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations to support safe and efficient execution.\nCollaborate with cross-functional project teams across multiple Worley offices and time zones to deliver project outcomes; flexibility to support schedule demands may be required.\nConduct site visits and field walkdowns in operating facilities and construction environments to support project execution; this may include short-duration land or air travel for coordination and inspections.is position may be required to work from the Worley Oakville office as needed.\nWhat you will bring:\nTechnical and Industry Experience:\nProven experience leading mechanical engineering teams on brownfield and greenfield projects within the MMM (Mining, Minerals and Metals) sector.\nStrong experience with minerals and metals wet and dry processes and associated services.\nExpertise in developing and reviewing technical specifications for minerals and metals process equipment.\nFamiliarity with applicable standards for a wide range of mechanical equipment.\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and deliver to tight deadlines.\nAbility to work effectively with other disciplines; understand engineering sequencing and workflows; and support customer design reviews.\nDemonstrated leadership, communication, and sound judgment, with the ability to influence outcomes in regulated, safety-critical environments.\nCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with a customer-focused approach to delivery.\nCandidates must be eligible to work in Canada. \nEducation - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 15+ years of relevant experience.\nRegistered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).\nFor applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $149294 to $175641 CAD.\nApplication of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.\nMoving forward together\nWe want our people to be energized and empowered to drive sustainable impact.
