Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.\nPurpose:\nThe purpose of the Principal Telecommunication Engineer role shall be to serve as a technical authority designing and delivering industrial telecommunication projects across Oil & Gas, Mining, Power and Chemical sectors. This role provides technical leadership during all phases of design and supports construction and commissioning activities. The successful candidate will lead the architecture and overall engineering of telecommunication systems such as wired and wireless networks, fiber optic networks, CCTV, Access Control and other extra-low voltage (ELV) systems, ensuring safe, reliable and scalable telecommunication designs are delivered in alignment with customer and project requirements.\nThis is a full-time hybrid position based at a Worley office in Canada: Calgary/Edmonton, Alberta; or Sudbury/Oakville/Markham, Ontario; or in the United States: Houston, Texas; Other locations across the US and Canada will be considered.\nResponsibilities:\nPre-FEED / FEED and Detailed Design:\nDefine high-level architecture/topologies, block diagrams and infrastructure requirements.\nDevelop basis of design and project philosophies.\nProduce FEED-Level engineering deliverables including design criteria, reports and specifications, system block diagrams, general arrangements and equipment lists. \nDevelop bill of materials, material take-offs and technical input to TIC Cost Estimates.\nComplete calculations and estimations (capacity/power/heat/space/weight/etc.)\nWork collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and review engineering drawings and design deliverables.\nProvide technical direction and oversight to designers and drafters in the development of engineering drawings, models and construction deliverables.\nLead the development of construction drawing packages such as cabinet details, floor plans, installation details, wiring and termination diagrams, EWPs, CWPs, Vendor scope of work and material requisitions.\nReview vendor documents and coordinate the development of vendor packages.\nEnsure constructability, maintainability and operability in all deliverables.\nMulti-Discipline Coordination and Procurement Support:\nInterface with various project teams internal and external (Automation, Electrical, IT, Operations, etc.) to ensure alignment of Telecom infrastructure requirements. \nProvide technical guidance to project managers, designers, drafters and junior engineers.\nResolve engineering issues with stakeholders across client, vendor, EPC and construction contractors.\nPrepare and evaluate technical specifications, datasheets and material requisitions.\nReview vendor proposals and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards\nPerform technical bid evaluations.\nLead or participate in FATs, SATs, and inspections when required.\nConstruction and Commissioning Support:\nProvide technical assistance during construction and respond to RFIs.\nReview contractor installation procedures and test plans.\nSupport commissioning team with system turn-up, testing and validation documentation.\nLeadership and Client Engagement:\nLeverages and helps develop the diverse background and skills of people for the attainment of company goals.\nPlans and executes projects through teamwork with other departments and with outside organizations.\nIdentifies gaps and builds an environment which has readily accessible knowledge and continuous learning.\nSupport talent development and contribute to building discipline capability within the organization.\nParticipate in communities of practice and knowledge-sharing initiatives.\nSupport proposals and bids by preparing technical writeups, execution strategies, engineering estimates and risk assessments.\nIdentify opportunities for technology optimization, standardization and cost improvements.\nContribute to client presentations and demonstrations.\nWhat you will bring:\nTechnical and Industry Experience:\nExperience in industrial operations: Mining, Oil & Gas, Power and Chemical industries.\nExpertise and specialization in one or more telecommunications disciplines: industrial networking, fiber optic systems, RF and wireless communications (Wi-Fi, Mesh, Private LTE/5G, microwave, radio systems), security and safety systems (CCTV, Access Control, PAGA), or related telecommunications technologies.\nFamiliarity and expertise in industrial project EPC/EPCM environment.\nExposure to OT Networks, industrial networking, and integration with Automation systems.\nKnowledgeable in UIT-T, UIT-R, TIA, IEEE, ISO/IEC, NFPA and CSA standards.\nExperienced in conceptual, basic and detailed engineering and implementation of high-availability telecommunication infrastructure in industrial environments.\nExperience with various telecommunications systems and networking products.\nExperience in various phases of vendor and technology selection.\nExperience in inspection and testing of equipment (FAT, SAT and system walk-downs).\nExperience in equipment installation and testing requirements.\nFluent in English (read, write and speak).\nSoft Skills:\nStrong leadership and mentoring abilities\nExcellent communication skills (written and verbal).\nStrong organizational and time-management skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams.\nProactive, detail-oriented and committed to high-quality work.\nEducation - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:\nRequired:\nRecognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or related field from an accredited College or University.\nMust have or be eligible to obtain a P.Eng. (Canada) or P.E.
