As part of the global Worley team, we enjoy shared resources and opportunities with more than 20 Canadian locations and 40 countries.\nWorley Canada Construction is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support project-site procurement. This hands-on role is responsible for timely, accurate, and commercially sound procurement of materials and services required by construction, while maintaining alignment with project procedures, client requirements, delivery priorities, and approved authorities.\nThe successful candidate will work closely with project management, construction, client representatives, quality, project controls, accounts payable, material management, suppliers, and the broader procurement team. Success requires strong organization, sound commercial judgment, disciplined follow-through, and the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced site environment.\nWork Conditions:\nProject-site-based position in the Fort McMurray area.\n\nRotation of 9 days on and 5 days off, working 10-hour days.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\nReview material and service requisitions for completeness, appropriate approvals, specifications, quantities, required-on-site dates, delivery locations, and supporting documentation.\n\nClarify procurement requirements with construction, engineering, quality, material management, project controls, and other stakeholders before approaching the market.\n\nPrepare and issue RFQs or RFPs with clear commercial instructions, scope requirements, bid closing dates, delivery expectations, and required supplier documentation.\n\nIdentify and engage qualified suppliers capable of meeting project requirements for safety, quality, price, schedule, capacity, and service.\n\nCoordinate technical and commercial bid evaluations, resolve clarifications, compare total evaluated cost, and prepare documented recommendations for award.\n\nNegotiate pricing, delivery, freight, payment terms, warranty requirements, commercial exceptions, and other purchase conditions within delegated authority.\n\nPrepare and issue accurate purchase orders, amendments, change orders, and supporting documentation in accordance with project and company procedures.\n\nMaintain complete and auditable procurement files, including requisitions, bids, evaluations, approvals, correspondence, commitments, and closeout records.\n\nMonitor open purchase orders and supplier commitments; obtain status updates and expedite drawings, documentation, fabrication, shipping, and delivery as required.\n\nCoordinate with suppliers, logistics, receiving, material management, construction, and quality teams to support delivery readiness and resolution of shortages, damages, discrepancies, or non-conforming materials.\n\nIdentify late or at-risk orders early, communicate potential impacts, and support practical recovery or mitigation actions.\n\nKeep purchase orders current by processing approved changes to quantities, pricing, delivery dates, freight, scope, and other commercial requirements.\n\nInvestigate and resolve invoice discrepancies in coordination with suppliers, accounts payable, requestors, and project controls to support accurate and timely payment.\n\nSupport management of supplier performance issues, back-charges, returns, warranty matters, credits, and commercial closeout requirements.\n\nClose purchase orders after confirming delivery, receipt, invoice resolution, required documentation, outstanding commitments, and applicable project closeout requirements.\n\nMaintain current procurement tracking and provide clear reports on RFQs, awards, commitments, overdue actions, delivery risk, invoice issues, and closeout status.\n\nBuild productive working relationships with site stakeholders and suppliers while protecting the company’s commercial interests and maintaining professional, ethical conduct.\n\nApply lessons learned and recommend practical improvements to field procurement workflows, systems, reporting, and supplier coordination\n\nQualifications:\nMinimum 5 years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience, preferably supporting industrial construction, mining, oil and gas, energy, or comparable project work.\nDemonstrated experience with competitive bidding, supplier evaluation, purchase order preparation and administration, expediting, invoice discrepancy resolution, and order closeout.\nAbility to interpret material requisitions, commercial requirements, supplier quotations, delivery terms, and procurement documentation.\nStrong Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer skills; experience with AVEVA ERM or another procurement or enterprise system is preferred.\nDiploma, degree, or certificate in supply chain management, business, construction, or a related discipline is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.\nSupply chain designation or progress toward a designation such as SCMP or CPSM is an asset.\nPrevious experience working at an industrial project site and supporting construction-driven priorities is preferred.\nMoving forward together\nWe want our people to be energized and empowered to drive sustainable impact.
