The role bridges the technical and execution gap between the Project Manager and the engineering disciplines and often functions as an Assistant Project Manager with a strong engineering foundation.\nThis position ensures that engineering work is planned, executed, and delivered in accordance with customer contracts, operating-facility requirements, regulatory obligations, and Worley policies, procedures, systems, and tools. The Project Engineer provides day to day technical leadership, supports execution decision making, and ensures engineering deliverables are fit for purpose for construction, commissioning, and operations.\nResponsibilities:\nDecision Making\nMakes independent decisions and sets priorities related to complex technical and execution matters within established guidelines.\nEvaluates cost, schedule, safety, constructability, and operability impacts when resolving technical or execution challenges.\nSupports risk based decision making appropriate for operating facilities and outage driven work.\nSupervision Received\nOperates with minimal supervision, initiating coordination and technical guidance as needed.\nWork is assigned in terms of broad objectives and reviewed for policy compliance, technical soundness, and overall effectiveness.\nInterfaces with other Worley departments to ensure alignment and coordination.\nSupervision Authority\nAssigns work and provides technical direction to engineers and designers assigned to projects.\nReviews engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, adequacy, and compliance with Basis of Design and applicable codes.\nLeadership\nDefines and assembles multi disciplinary, multi office teams to deliver Chemicals & Fuels project scope.\nLeads engineering execution for brownfield and operating facility projects.\nEstablishes clear objectives related to scope, schedule, productivity, quality, and budget.\nMonitors performance, addresses gaps, and drives timely resolution of issues.\nImplements communication tools and routines to keep project teams aligned on status, risks, and key performance indicators.\nBuilds alignment and support for recommendations through clear, persuasive communication.\nFinancial Acumen\nApplies in depth knowledge of customer contracts to engineering execution and change management.\nUnderstands project cost build up, gross margin, and cost drivers specific to Chemicals & Fuels projects.\nTracks engineering quantities, progress, and productivity.\nMonitors cost and schedule performance and forecasts trends using analytical judgment.\nEnsures change control processes are understood, applied, and documented.\nRecognizes the cost impact of constructability, outage windows, and late engineering changes.\nExecution Planning & Performance\nTranslates contract and regulatory requirements into a clear Worley engineering scope of services and deliverables.\nDevelops and supports engineering schedules and resource plans aligned with project and construction needs.\nManages engineering execution, coordination, and progress tracking.\nLeads regular reviews of engineering status, risks, and constraints.\nDevelops and drives action plans to resolve technical, execution, or interface issues.\nDemonstrates experience executing multi office workshare models.\nPromotes Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions in project delivery.\nSupports construction, pre commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities as required for operating facilities.\nCustomer & Stakeholder Management\nUnderstands customer business drivers, operating priorities, and key performance indicators.\nInterfaces with customer engineering, operations, maintenance, and reliability stakeholders.\nManages relationships with customer representatives in accordance with established communication protocols.\nCoordinates with vendors and suppliers, communicating technical and execution requirements.\nBuilds trust through transparent communication of progress, risks, and issues.\nProactively addresses technical coordination challenges with customers and stakeholders.\nRisk & Opportunity Management\nIdentifies project risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.\nDevelops and implements mitigation, contingency, and resolution plans appropriate for operating facilities.\nMaintains a current and actively managed project risk register.\nUses risk register inputs to support contingency planning and forecasting.\nFollows Worley risk management procedures and governance.\nWhat you will bring\nTechnical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:\nAt least 8 plus years in petrochemical and refining with project design, execution, and construction.\nStrong understanding of engineering and knowledge systems, processes, tools, and workflows.\nDemonstrated experience in Chemicals, Fuels, refining, petrochemical, or related industrial facilities.\nProven ability to execute brownfield and operating facility projects.\nWorking knowledge of EPC project delivery, including engineering, procurement, and construction interfaces.\nExposure to procurement, subcontracting, and construction support activities.\nExperience participating in HAZOP, constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews.\nStrong understanding of process safety, Safety by Design, and regulatory compliance.\nAbility to act as the technical interface with customers and internal stakeholders.\nHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skills.\nTools & Systems\nProficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.\nAble to organize and retain information in accordance with prescribed formats and policies.\nCommunication & Collaboration\nEffectively communicates project requirements, expectations, and status.\nTakes a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports.\nCreates an environment of open communication and collaboration.\nResolves technical and interpersonal issues within the project team.\nAdditional Information:\nPositions located is in Long Beach, CA, Worley office location.\nMay be required to travel to the vendors
