As part of the global Worley team, we enjoy shared resources and opportunities with more than 20 Canadian locations and 40 countries.\nWorley Canada Construction Is seeking Mechanical Quality Control Inspector to join our Quality team.\nLocation: Edmonton, Alberta / In-person\n\nSchedule: 5 days on 2 days off, 48 hour work week\n\nLocals only, no LOA or Travel allowance provided\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical Quality Control Inspector to provide field quality surveillance and inspection for the installation of mechanical equipment on an industrial construction project.\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for verifying the installation and mechanical completion of pressure vessels, boilers, pumps, motors, packaged equipment, and associated mechanical systems in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), manufacturer requirements, applicable codes and standards, and project quality requirements.\nRole Expectations:\nThe Mechanical QC Inspector is expected to spend a significant portion of the role in the field, proactively monitoring work as it progresses rather than relying solely on final inspection. The objective is to identify installation or documentation issues early, minimize rework, and ensure equipment is ready for safe and efficient turnover to pre-commissioning and commissioning.\nResponsibilities:\nPerform receiving, installation, and final inspections of:\n\noPressure vessels and heat exchangers\noBoilers and associated equipment\noPumps and pump packages\noElectric motors\noSkid-mounted and packaged equipment\noOther static and rotating mechanical equipment\nVerify equipment identification, orientation, location, elevation, accessibility, and installation against approved IFC drawings and vendor documentation.\n\nInspect equipment foundations, anchor bolts, baseplates, sole plates, shimming and grouting as applicable.\n\nVerify equipment setting, leveling, alignment, and installation tolerances.\n\nWitness or verify pump and motor alignment, including documentation of alignment results where required by the project or manufacturer.\n\nVerify preservation requirements are maintained during storage and installation, including protection against moisture, contamination, corrosion, and physical damage.\n\nConfirm equipment is installed in accordance with manufacturer/vendor installation requirements.\n\nVerify pressure equipment installation against applicable project requirements and Alberta regulatory requirements where applicable.\n\nReview and execute project Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and inspection checklists.\n\nCoordinate required inspection hold, witness, surveillance, and review points with construction, the client, vendors, and other authorized parties.\n\nReview applicable material certificates, equipment data reports, vendor documentation, inspection records, and turnover documentation.\n\nPerform mechanical equipment walkdowns and identify deficiencies, incomplete work, or non-conforming conditions.\n\nGenerate and manage inspection reports, punch-list items, deficiencies, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) as required.\n\nMonitor corrective actions and verify satisfactory closure of identified deficiencies.\n\nCoordinate NDE activities where applicable and review associated inspection reports.\n\nVerify cleanliness and protection of mechanical equipment prior to final closure or turnover.\n\nSupport system and subsystem mechanical completion walkdowns.\n\nEnsure inspection records are complete, accurate, traceable, and incorporated into the final turnover package.\n\nInterface with Engineering and Construction when field installations deviate from drawings, specifications, tolerances, or manufacturer requirements.\n\nParticipate in vendor and client inspections as required.\n\nSupport pre-commissioning and commissioning teams with mechanical-quality verification and turnover documentation.\n\nPromote a strong quality culture by identifying issues early and working collaboratively with construction to prevent rework.\n\nQualifications and Experience\nMust have a valid CSA W178.2 Level 2 Quality Control Inspector certification.\n\nMinimum 5 years of mechanical QC inspection experience on industrial construction projects, preferably in oil and gas and petrochemical.\n\nJourneyperson certification in a mechanical trade, Millwright, Steamfitter/Pipefitter, or equivalent relevant technical background.\n\nMechanical Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent inspection/technical education is an asset.\n\nRelevant inspection certifications, such as API or ABSA In-Service Inspector certification, are considered assets based on project requirements.\n\nPrevious experience working under an ASME quality program is an asset.\n\nExperience with vendor surveillance and packaged equipment inspections.\n\nExperience with mechanical completion, system turnover, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.\n\nStrong coordination with site supervision, trades, and client representatives is required to support safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.\n\nStrong understanding of mechanical equipment installation practices, tolerances, alignment, setting, leveling, grouting, and mechanical completion.\n\nAbility to interpret:\n\noIFC drawings\noEquipment general arrangement drawings\noP&IDs\noVendor drawings and manuals\noEquipment data sheets\noITPs and quality procedures\noMechanical specifications\nMoving forward together\nWe’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace where everyone feels they belong, can bring themselves, and are heard.
