As part of our Contaminated Sites team, you will lead environmental assessment, remediation, reclamation, and monitoring projects that support responsible development and long-term asset stewardship across Alberta and northern Canada.\nThis role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to combine technical leadership, project delivery, client engagement, and mentorship while helping clients navigate complex environmental challenges and regulatory requirements. You will contribute to projects that create lasting value for clients, communities, and the environment while helping to shape the growth and success of Worley’s Liability Management and Restoration (LMR) practice.\nPurpose of the role\nAs a Senior Environmental Scientist or Engineer, you will provide leadership in the planning and execution of contaminated site assessment, remediation, reclamation, and environmental monitoring programs. You will balance technical expertise, field leadership, project coordination, and mentoring responsibilities while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.\nWorking closely with Project Managers, technical specialists, clients, contractors, regulators, and multidisciplinary project teams, you will lead field investigations, guide technical decision-making, support business objectives, and help develop the next generation of environmental professionals. This position offers a clear pathway toward increased project management, technical leadership, and client-facing responsibilities within Worley Consulting.\nLocation(s): Calgary, Alberta or Edmonton, Alberta\nThis is a full-time position based in either Worley Consulting’s Calgary or Edmonton office. The role includes frequent travel throughout Alberta and may involve assignments in the Northwest Territories and other northern or Arctic regions. Field programs may require remote-site work, extended travel, and work in challenging environmental conditions.\nYou will be responsible for\nLeading environmental field programs, including groundwater and surface water monitoring, soil sampling, drilling oversight, borehole logging, monitoring well installation, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation activities.\nManaging a combination of field-based and office-based responsibilities, including technical analysis, reporting, project coordination, and client support.\nPlanning and executing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including investigation design, field oversight, data interpretation, and reporting.\nProviding technical leadership and oversight on contaminated sites, remediation, reclamation, and environmental monitoring projects.\nMentoring, coaching, and supporting the development of junior and intermediate environmental professionals through technical guidance and field leadership.\nDriving safe project execution through strong leadership, effective communication, quality field documentation, issue resolution, and adherence to project objectives.\nSupporting Project Managers with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, resource management, and client communication.\nInterpreting environmental data and developing practical, technically sound recommendations that support risk management and regulatory compliance.\nPreparing and reviewing high-quality technical reports, environmental assessments, remediation strategies, regulatory submissions, and project deliverables.\nBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, and other project stakeholders.\nDeveloping, implementing, and promoting site-specific health, safety, and sustainability plans in alignment with Worley standards and regulatory requirements.\nSupporting business development activities, client relationship management, and opportunities to expand project scope and service offerings.\nPromoting a culture of safety, sustainability, operational excellence, technical quality, and continuous improvement across all project activities.\nWhat you’ll bring to the role\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.\nTypically 7+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience with a focus on contaminated site assessment, remediation, reclamation, and environmental monitoring.\nDemonstrated experience supporting or leading contaminated site management projects throughout Alberta.\nExperience directing field investigations, coordinating technical teams, and delivering client-focused environmental solutions.\nRegistration or eligibility for registration with a professional organization such as P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., EP, or an equivalent professional designation.\nExperience working within the energy, oil and gas, industrial, mining, infrastructure, or resource sectors is considered highly desirable.\nTechnical Expertise\nStrong understanding of contaminated site assessment, remediation, reclamation, liability management, and environmental compliance programs.\nExperience leading and reviewing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs).\nKnowledge of Alberta environmental regulations, contaminated site guidance, reclamation requirements, and compliance frameworks.\nExperience with groundwater monitoring, drilling programs, soil sampling, remediation activities, and site closure programs.\nAbility to interpret environmental data and develop defensible technical recommendations and remediation strategies.\nExperience preparing and reviewing technical reports, regulatory submissions, environmental assessments, and client deliverables.\nStrong understanding of environmental risk management principles and industry best practices.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and environmental reporting software.\nLeadership & Project Delivery\nDemonstrated ability to lead environmental field teams and coordinate complex project activities across multiple workstreams.\nExperience mentoring and developing junior and intermediate staff through coaching, technical review, and field leadership.\nStrong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities, schedules, and client commitments.\nAbility to make sound technical decisions and provide leadership in dynamic field and consulting environments.\nProven problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making capabilities.\nSelf-motivated and adaptable with the ability to work independently while supporting broader team objectives.\nCollaboration &
