This role is responsible for interpreting engineering designs, resolving field issues, coordinating instrumentation construction activities, and ensuring installation and testing activities are performed in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements. The Instrumentation Field Engineer serves as a key interface between engineering, construction, quality, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project delivery. This position is based in Freeport, TX.\nResponsibilities\nDeliver instrumentation engineering services that meet Worley, client, and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.\nKey accountabilities include:\nInterpret and analyze instrumentation drawings, specifications, loop diagrams, hook-ups, cable schedules, datasheets, and engineering deliverables to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.\nProvide field engineering support for the installation of instrumentation systems, including transmitters, analyzers, control valves, tubing systems, junction boxes, marshalling cabinets, and associated wiring.\nEvaluate field conditions and implement design modifications or recommendations necessary to accommodate site requirements while maintaining compliance with engineering intent.\nSupport construction supervision activities and verify that instrumentation installation work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.\nCoordinate with project engineers, construction management, quality personnel, vendors, and commissioning teams to ensure timely execution of instrumentation activities.\nReview and resolve Requests for Information (RFIs), field change notices, and technical queries associated with instrumentation systems.\nPerform field inspections and quality checks to verify proper installation, calibration, and completion of instrumentation systems.\nLeading the execution of instrumentation and control engineering activities on assigned projects or project scopes.\nSupporting project planning and delivery, including participation in relevant meetings, preparation of progress reports, and compliance with required checking and quality assurance procedures.\nProviding technical input and support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including:o Preparation and review of requisitions\no Technical bid evaluations\no Review of vendor documentation and purchase orders\n\nCoordinating instrumentation engineering activities with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, mechanical, piping, automation) to ensure integrated project delivery.\nCommunicating effectively with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.\nTechnical & Industry Experience\n\nDemonstrated experience delivering instrumentation and control engineering work on industrial projects (e.g., energy, mining, chemicals, or infrastructure).\nWorking knowledge of engineering systems, workflows, and document management tools \nExperience participating in process safety and operability studies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and implementing outcomes into engineering design.\nStrong working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables, including:Junction box and marshalling panel design\nP&IDs\nLoop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument location drawings\nMotor control and interconnection schematics\nInstrument installation details\nInstrument datasheets and specifications\nI/O lists\nBills of material\nCable, conduit, and tray schedules\nControl narratives and philosophies\nCause & effect diagrams\nMaterial requisitions\nConstruction and engineering work packages\nWorking knowledge of instrumentation selection and application, including:\nFlow measurement (orifice, vortex, venturi, magnetic, ultrasonic)\nLevel measurement (radar, displacers, gauges)\nTemperature measurement (including thermowell design and frequency wake calculations)\n• Pressure measurement\n\nEducation, Qualifications & Accreditation\nRequired:\nAccredited Engineering Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline.\nSolid experience in instrumentation and control engineering roles on multidisciplinary projects.\nDemonstrated ability to develop, review, and interpret I&C designs, drawings, and technical documentation.\nStrong communication, coordination, and analytical skills.\nMoving forward together\nWe want our people to be energized and empowered to drive sustainable impact.
