We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value across the life of their assets. We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.\nPurpose of the role\nYou will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing materials control activities to support project delivery, from reviewing engineering documentation and determining material requirements through to receiving, storing, tracking, and distributing materials and equipment on site.\nDrawing on your advanced knowledge of materials management systems, engineering specifications, and site operations, you will help maintain material availability, minimize waste, identify potential shortages, and resolve discrepancies before they affect project schedules. You will also provide technical guidance to colleagues, support continuous improvement, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure materials control activities align with project objectives, client requirements, and Worley’s operational standards.\nCore Responsibilities\nYou will be responsible for:\nEngineering documentation and material take-offs: Review engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of materials, technical specifications, and related documentation to determine accurate material quantities, types, grades, sizes, and other requirements necessary to support project execution.\nMaterial planning and forecasting: Prepare, validate, and maintain material requirements, accounting for existing inventory, standard and conventional material sizes, project priorities, expected consumption, and anticipated construction and installation needs.\nMaterials control and inventory management: Assist in the effective operation and maintenance of site materials control systems, ensuring accurate material records, stock balances, material status, traceability, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.\nReceiving, storage, and distribution: Coordinate and oversee the receipt, inspection, identification, storage, preservation, handling, and distribution of materials and equipment to ensure availability for planned site activities and compliance with applicable project requirements.\nMaterial identification and procurement support: Maintain accurate material descriptions, applicable codes, specifications, brands where required, supplier details, and relevant contact information to support purchasing, expediting, order processing, and material traceability.\nInventory reconciliation and discrepancy resolution: Monitor stock levels, reconcile physical inventory against system records, investigate shortages, surpluses, damaged materials, and documentation discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions with relevant stakeholders.\nProject coordination and schedule alignment: Work collaboratively with engineering, procurement, construction, warehouse, logistics, and project controls teams to align material availability with project milestones, work packages, and construction priorities.\nTechnical guidance and problem-solving: Apply specialized knowledge to resolve complex materials control issues, troubleshoot system and process challenges, and provide practical advice to colleagues and project stakeholders.\nTeam leadership and collaboration: Lead functional project teams where required, coordinate assigned activities, provide job-related guidance to team members, and support the development of consistent materials management practices across the project.\nReporting and stakeholder communication: Prepare and present material status reports, inventory summaries, forecasts, risk assessments, and recommendations. Communicate complex material-related issues clearly and persuasively to project teams, management, and clients.\nProcess improvement and compliance: Identify opportunities to improve materials control systems, workflows, inventory accuracy, and reporting efficiency. Apply relevant procedures, project requirements, quality expectations, and health, safety, and environmental standards to materials management activities.\nRisk identification and mitigation: Identify potential material shortages, delivery constraints, storage limitations, and other supply-related risks. Recommend and coordinate practical solutions to reduce disruption, avoid unnecessary costs, and maintain project progress.\nWhat you’ll bring to the role\nYou will bring a combination of technical expertise, materials management experience, analytical capability, and collaborative leadership to support successful project delivery.\nQualifications and experience\nA university degree or equivalent qualification in materials management, supply chain management, engineering, logistics, construction management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.\nTypically, seven or more years of relevant experience in materials control, inventory management, materials planning, construction logistics, or a related project environment.\nDemonstrated experience interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of materials, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation to establish material requirements accurately.\nExperience supporting materials management activities on construction, installation, industrial, energy, chemicals, resources, or other complex engineering projects.\nExperience maintaining or overseeing materials control systems, inventory databases, stock records, and material tracking processes.\nExperience coordinating material receipt, storage, preservation, handling, reconciliation, and distribution within a project or site-based environment.\nExperience working across multidisciplinary teams and coordinating activities with engineering, procurement, construction, warehouse, and logistics stakeholders.\nDemonstrated ability to lead project activities, coordinate team workloads, and provide technical guidance to colleagues. Experience with direct reports may be beneficial.\nTechnical knowledge and skills\nEngineering interpretation and material quantification: Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, identify required materials, calculate quantities, and account for relevant codes, grades, dimensions, and material standards.\nMaterials planning and inventory control: Strong understanding of inventory principles, stock reconciliation, material forecasting, material availability, storage requirements, and the relationship between materials readiness and construction schedules.\nMaterials management systems and digital tools: Proficiency in using materials control systems, inventory databases, spreadsheets, and project management tools to maintain accurate records, monitor material movements, generate reports, and resolve system-related issues. Experience troubleshooting system or process problems and assisting others with their resolution is important.\nProcurement and supply chain coordination: Understanding of purchasing workflows, supplier information, order processing, delivery tracking, and the importance of accurate material specifications and documentation in supporting procurement activities.\nSite logistics and material handling: Knowledge of site-based receiving, storage, preservation, distribution, and traceability practices, including the coordination of materials and equipment to support construction and installation activities.\nData analysis and reporting: Ability to analyze inventory information, identify trends and discrepancies, assess material risks, and translate data into clear reports and actionable recommendations.\nProblem-solving and decision-making: Sound judgment and the ability to assess complex or competing material requirements, establish priorities, evaluate options, and implement practical solutions with appropriate consideration of project objectives and operational constraints.\nQuality, safety, and compliance: Understanding of relevant project procedures, material identification and traceability requirements, quality controls, and applicable health, safety, and environmental expectations for site materials management.\nLeadership and personal capabilities\nCollaboration: You work effectively with people across disciplines, functions, and levels of the organization, building productive relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.\nCommunication and influencing: You communicate clearly and confidently, including when explaining technical requirements, presenting recommendations, preparing reports, or addressing complex material-related issues with management and project teams.\nPlanning and organization: You manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple activities, and maintain accurate documentation while keeping project milestones and material requirements in focus.\nLeadership and mentoring: You provide practical direction, share technical knowledge, support colleagues in resolving challenges, and help establish consistent working practices. You can take the lead on functional project teams and guide others toward shared objectives.\nInitiative and accountability: You take ownership of assigned responsibilities, recognize emerging issues, seek guidance when appropriate, and follow through on actions to achieve agreed outcomes.\nAdaptability: You respond constructively to changing project requirements, evolving construction priorities, and unexpected material constraints while maintaining attention to detail and quality.\nContinuous improvement: You look for practical opportunities to strengthen processes, improve system accuracy, reduce material waste, and increase the efficiency and reliability of materials control activities.\nMoving forward together\nWe want our people to be energized and empowered to drive sustainable impact.
