WPP

WPP is a British advertising and communications group assembled by Martin Sorrell from 1985 onwards, starting from a shell company that made wire shopping baskets and growing through relentless acquisition into the largest agency holding company in the world. It owns media buying through GroupM, creative networks including Ogilvy and VML, public relations firms such as Burson, and the consultancy AKQA, serving most of the world's largest advertisers. Headquartered in London and listed there, it has spent recent years consolidating dozens of agency brands into fewer, larger units while facing pressure from consultancies and from platforms selling directly to clients.

WPP is the trusted growth partner for the world’s leading brands.

We unite cutting-edge media intelligence and data solutions, world-class creativity, next-generation production, transformative enterprise solutions and expert strategic counsel in a single company - powered by exceptional talent and our agentic marketing platform, WPP Open, to help our clients navigate change, capture opportunity and deliver transformational growth.

We work with the world's most valuable brands and have global reach across 100+ markets, with deep local expertise.

Our people are the key to our success. We're committed to fostering a culture of creativity, belonging and continuous learning, attracting and developing the brightest talent, and providing exciting career opportunities that help our people grow.

You will support account teams’ day-to-day activities, providing exceptional client service and participating in integrated marketing communications (IMC), planning, execution and measurement activities. Key responsibilities include crafting professional, client-facing communications - such as updates on media opportunities, status reports, campaign summary reports and general account activity reports - so being a proactive and detail-oriented team member is a must!

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Service:

  • Keep up with the industry. Learn everything you can about your clients and understand the trends and issues (e.g., media, business, political and cultural) that could impact them, their competitors and the overall patient journey.
  • Participate in client planning meetings and calls. Ask informed questions and absorb important details.
  • Create professional, actionable client-facing communications (e.g., updates on media opportunities, status reports, campaign summary reports and general account activity reports).
  • Demonstrate proficiency with document review systems (e.g., Veeva Vault). Be able to upload error-free, quickly and in high-pressure situations.

Strategy:

  • Ask. Wonder. Learn. Read presentation decks, listen in meetings, understand not just what you are doing but why it is being done, and how it adds value to our clients’ businesses.
  • Be responsible for tactical execution of client programming and able to deliver first drafts of next-step recommendations, campaign materials, timelines and briefs.
  • Contribute to IMC programs in a way that creates value and showcases our “Do Something Different” approach to meeting client objectives.

Media:

  • Develop and maintain media lists and leverage relationships in collaboration with the GCI Health media team. Study and deliver well-written materials.
  • Monitor and report client media coverage. Understand how to use media platforms such as Cision and Factiva. Translate and communicate to clients in a way that adds value to their business.
  • Research, develop and pitch fresh, thought-provoking stories, and help coordinate press materials and events (such as press kits, news releases and press conferences).
  • Know the media landscape - including editorial calendars and subscribing to media newsletters.

Digital:

  • Monitor, pitch and help build relationships with key social influencers and community contacts to optimize digital channels.
  • Stay current on social media channels, trends and analytics tools and make recommendations to strengthen client campaigns.
  • Develop content for social and digital channels to support brand strategies and appeal to target audiences.
  • Communicate and collaborate with the GCI Health digital team, as appropriate.

Creativity:

  • Organize and participate in brainstorming meetings and contribute ideas based on knowledge of the client and outside reading and research.
  • Know our capabilities and when to engage creative resources.
  • Be curious. Note the latest trends in media, culture, healthcare innovation, etc., and apply them to clients’ programs by presenting a thoughtful and comprehensive POV.

Research and Insights:

  • Know research and measurement methodologies and resources.
  • Implement research and measurement tools for client campaigns so we can measure success.
  • Synthesize research for analysis and summary reports for teams and clients.

Business Development:

  • Listen. Every client meeting can lead to opportunities to add value and grow the relationship.
  • Monitor social media and other channels for relevant opportunities that could lead to new business; proactively flag with supporting rationale to core account team.
  • Assist with case studies for client presentations, new business pitches and industry awards.
  • Participate in new business research projects.

Collaboration:

  • Share ideas; jump in when needed and ask others for their opinions and builds.
  • Weigh potential solutions and compromises based on what they mean to us and our clients. Be ready to defend your position confidently and articulately.
  • If people disagree, help find a solution everyone’s happy with; know when to involve a manager.

Communication:

  • Know your audience; use language, style and tone that appeal to them. Communicate efficiently.
  • Meet or beat deadlines. Clearly communicate with clients and teams when deadlines shift.
  • Be professional when communicating to co-workers, clients and external audiences; skip jargon and clichés. Write with clarity and accuracy.
  • Follow AP Stylebook (or AMA, pending client preference) guidelines when writing press materials; understand how to reference.

Financial Management:

  • Learn “the business” of our business and how we make money through meeting billability targets.
  • Record billable hours daily in Maconomy and make supervisors aware of your time.
  • Follow agency procedures for client budgets and budget tracking.
  • Manage vendor relationships, costs and invoicing.

  • Seek out and use ideas, opinions, and insights from diverse sources and individuals.
  • Use self-awareness to deflect biases.
  • Consistently demonstrate integrity and credibility while building trust through inclusive behavior.

Team Management:

  • Coach and mentor junior team members (account coordinators and assistant account executives) to help them learn our business and capabilities.
  • Delegate tasks to junior team members with clarity, including timetables and expected outcomes.
  • Identify and implement skills-development needs for team members.
  • Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback and edits where appropriate.

Accountability:

  • Fulfill all commitments of your role.
  • Admit mistakes and misjudgments. Figure out how to avoid them in the future.
  • Take responsibility for tough decisions and actions to get things done.
  • Be a problem-solver.

Agency Responsibilities:

  • Help recruit top talent by knowing our capabilities, locations and talking about the company in a positive way.
  • Contribute to the agency in a meaningful way through participation in culture initiatives, staff meetings, manager meetings and by being supportive of and kind to colleagues.
  • Adhere to GCI Health’s confidentiality and disclosure agreements and code of ethics/conduct.
  • Participate in agency Learning and Development opportunities as appropriate and as agreed upon with your manager.
  • Do Something Different in your approach, involvement and agency contributions!
