The role does not have line management responsibility; people management remains with the Security Incident Management Lead.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nAdvanced Incident Detection, Analysis & Response\n- Lead investigations for high-severity and complex security incidents.\n- Perform deep technical analysis using SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, identity, email, and cloud telemetry.\n- Execute and oversee containment, eradication, and recovery actions.\n- Act as technical incident commander when delegated.\nEscalation Handling & Stakeholder Coordination\n- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex incidents.\n- Coordinate with Legal, Privacy, Risk, Technology Operations, and agency teams.\n- Provide clear technical updates to senior stakeholders.\nForensics, Evidence Handling & Assurance\n- Lead forensic evidence collection, preservation, and analysis.\n- Ensure documentation and artefacts are audit-ready.\n- Support external forensic or law-enforcement engagement when required.\nQuality Assurance, Playbook Maturity & Continuous Improvement\n- Review incident handling quality and identify process or tooling gaps.\n- Improve incident response playbooks and SOPs.\n- Lead or support post-incident reviews and ensure actions are tracked.\nTechnical Leadership & Capability Uplift\n- Mentor Security Incident Responders without line management responsibility.\n- Partner with Detection Engineering, Threat Intelligence, Automation, and VM teams.\n- Identify opportunities for automation and response optimisation.\nWhat you'll need:\nEssential:\n- Extensive hands-on experience responding to enterprise-scale security incidents.\n- Deep technical expertise across SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, identity, email, and cloud platforms.\n- Strong forensic, investigation, and root cause analysis skills.\n- Ability to operate calmly under pressure and communicate clearly.\nDesirable:\n- Experience acting as incident commander or senior escalation point.\n- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and threat-led response.\n- Relevant certifications (GCIH, GCFA, GCED, CISSP).\nWho you are:\nYou're open: we are inclusive and collaborative; we encourage the free exchange of ideas; we respect and celebrate diverse views.
