This is a hands-on technical leadership role that sits at the intersection of software and hardware: you will take complex components AI engines, control systems, sensors, and actuators and integrate them into robust, production-ready systems that perform reliably in the real world.\n\nBeyond engineering, you will lead and mentor a team of engineers and coordinate across functions to ensure products are delivered on time and to spec. The ideal candidate combines strong coding fundamentals, deep systems intuition, and the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving toward a shared goal.\n\nThe candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions: \n\nSystems Architecture and Integration: \nArchitect and integrate diverse software and hardware components into cohesive, well-functioning semi-autonomous and autonomous systems.\nDefine interfaces, data flows, and integration standards across subsystems to ensure seamless interoperability.\nMake pragmatic trade-offs between performance, reliability, cost, and time-to-market across the full system stack.\n\n Software Development: \nDesign, develop, and maintain software in C++ and Python across critical subsystems, including AI/perception engines, control systems, and sensor-actuator integration layers.\nWrite clean, efficient, and maintainable code, with attention to real-time performance and resource constraints.\nContribute to and uphold engineering best practices around code review, version control, and documentation.\n\nDebugging and Root-Cause Analysis: \nInvestigate complex, cross-system issues spanning software, hardware, and their interactions.\nConduct systematic root-cause analysis to identify the true source of failures rather than surface symptoms.\nDevelop efficient, durable resolutions and put safeguards in place to prevent recurrence.\n\nTechnical Leadership and Cross-Team Coordination: \nLead, mentor, and guide a team of engineers, setting technical direction and raising the bar on quality.\nCoordinate across teams software, hardware, AI, QA, and product to align priorities and remove blockers.\nOwn delivery milestones, track progress against schedules, and ensure the team ships reliable products on time.\n\nEdge Deployment: \nDeploy and optimise systems on edge devices, accounting for constraints in compute, memory, power, and connectivity.\nAnticipate and resolve deployment-related challenges such as hardware variability, over-the-air updates, latency, and field reliability.\nTune software for efficient on-device execution without compromising functionality or safety.\n\nTest Strategy and Validation: \nDefine and implement comprehensive testing strategies to validate and harden the system end-to-end.\nBuild test coverage across unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop, and system-level scenarios, including edge cases and failure modes.\nEstablish validation processes that ensure robustness, safety, and consistent performance before deployment.\n\nRequirements: \nBachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (e. g., Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, or related discipline).\n2-4 years of professional experience in systems engineering, ideally involving the integration of software and hardware.\nStrong programming skills in C++ and Python.\nDemonstrated experience developing or integrating components such as AI engines, control systems, and sensor-actuator interfaces.\nProven debugging and root-cause analysis skills across complex, multi-component systems.\nExperience working with edge devices and an understanding of real-world deployment challenges.\nAbility to design and execute thorough testing and validation strategies.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead a team and coordinate across functions.\n\nPreferred Qualifications: \nMaster's degree in a relevant engineering field.\nDirect experience building semi-autonomous or autonomous systems (e. g., robotics, drones, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation).\nFamiliarity with real-time operating systems, embedded development, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.\nPrior experience leading or mentoring engineering
