This role requires strong hands-on experience in cloud-based\ndata platforms and a passion for developing efficient and scalable data solutions.\nThis role offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud-based data technologies, gain\nexperience in data lake management, and grow within a fast-paced environment.\nWhat Wren offer:\nRegular social events\nStaff discount on purchasing a kitchen after 1 year of continuous employment\nFree annual eye tests as well as a contribution to new glasses\nQuarterly bonus scheme\nKey Responsibilities:\nDesign, build, and optimise ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and cloud-native tools.\nImplement data validation frameworks, automated testing, and monitoring using tools likeDatadog or CloudWatch.\n\nWork closely with Business Intelligence, analytics teams, and business users tounderstand data needs and deliver reliable solutions.\n\nMaintain and improve the data lakeʼs performance, security, and cost-efficiency inplatforms like Databricks or Snowflake.\n\nEnsure proper monitoring, alerting, and logging are in place to maintain uptime and dataavailability.\n\nMaintain clear documentation of data flows, transformations, and best practices.Contribute to knowledge-sharing and mentoring junior engineers.\n\nFollow industry standards for data governance, security, and CI/CD automation in datapipelines.\n\nStay up to date with new tools and techniques in data engineering, contributing ideas toimprove processes and system efficiency.\n\nAbout You\nDesired skills and knowledge:\n\n4+ years’ experience designing, building, and maintaining production data platforms.\nStrong Python skills for data wrangling, pipeline orchestration, automation, and complex SQL/Python debugging, including AI-augmented development tools.\nExperience with modern data lakes/ETL platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent; strong knowledge of Databricks and evaluating new tools for adoption.\nUnderstanding of LLMs, RAG, and data engineering’s role in agentic workflows.\nExperience with data modelling, transformation, performance optimisation, quality, and consistency.\nFamiliarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch, plus BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.\nStrong problem-solving, troubleshooting, attention to detail, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.\nKnowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.\nExperience with Agile methodologies, Jira, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.\nHands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including compute, storage, and serverless services.\nYou must comply with all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and responsibilities outlined within the Integrated Management System\nThis role is based at Barton-upon-Humber, working patterns to be agreed.\nAbout The Company\nAt Wren we’re passionate about all things kitchens, and now bedrooms too!
