Your health and happiness are important to us.\nIn addition to great technical work within a friendly and collaborative working environment, we offer:\nCompetitive salaries\nAgile Working\nEnhanced Family Friendly Benefits\nGenerous holiday entitlement and holiday purchase scheme\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nPension scheme\nLife Assurance scheme\nGroup Income Protection\nEmployee Wellness Initiatives\nCash Plan Scheme\nPrivate Medical Insurance\n1200 chargeable hours\nAbout the role\nPrepare, submit and manage bills of costs through the SCCO process, including service on third parties.\nMonitor key dates and deadlines, ensuring compliance with all required procedures and reporting requirements.\nWork closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including costs draftsmen, counsel and the SCCO, to support successful cost recovery.\nReview assessments, handle responses, appeals and negotiations, and provide guidance on best practice to maximise recovery levels.\nMaintain accurate billing records, spreadsheets and time recording, ensuring all information is up to date.\nParticipate in relevant training and continuously develop knowledge of costs recovery and assessment processes.\nEssential Experience\nMinimum of 2 years’ experience as a Costs Lawyer or Law Costs Draftsperson in a Court of Protection Team.\nEssential Skills\nHighly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines independently.\nDetail-oriented with a methodical approach and strong written communication skills.\nPositive and collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to communicate effectively at all levels.\nProfessional, reliable and commercially aware, with an understanding of balancing efficiency with maximising costs recovery.\nProficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly spreadsheets; experience of Costsmaster would be advantageous.\nExperience working to financial or billing targets and delivering against performance objectives is desirable.\nApplication process\nOur selection process for the Costs Lawyer position is transparent.
