This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program.\nThis internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 17th, 2027. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.\nWSP brings global expertise in power delivery, power generation, and program management-anchored by the acquisition of POWER Engineers, Inc. TRC Companies have now joined WSP, deepening our power practice and expanding our energy advisory and intelligent grid services. We're partnering with clients to shape how energy systems evolve around the world-and we need your help.\nYour Impact\nSupport a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills. \nLearn basic principles of Electrical Engineering. \nWork closely with experienced engineers on all aspects of utility substation design.\nParticipate in detailed design tasks for low to extra-high-voltage substations, including: One-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA and communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, and substation layouts\nPerform design calculations following IEEE, NEC, NESC, and industry standards.\nAssist senior engineers with QA/QC design checks.\nSupport design engineers with physical and protection/control design for electric utility substations.\nAssist in collecting and maintaining project documentation. \nComplete training on assigned tasks. \nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. \nPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. \nPlease note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship. \nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\nActively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering, or related, Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later. \nMust be 18 or older. \nDemonstrated interest in electrical engineering, consulting engineering, the electric utility industry, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects. \nCompetent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. \nCapable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects. \nBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools. \nProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. \nAuthorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.\nPreferred Qualifications\nSuccessful completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection\nPrior internship and leadership involvement on campus.Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered for this position.\n\nFamiliarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as MATHCAD, SOLIDWORKS, AUTOCAD, MICROSTATION, etc. as well as Microsoft Excel is beneficial.\nCompensation:\nExpected Pay (all locations): $23.90 - $31.11 per hour\nWSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
