As an Electrical Substation Design Engineer working within WSP's Ireland Energy business, you will be responsible for working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering the power transmission infrastructure that will deliver Net Zero to the Ireland Energy System. Your expertise will directly influence our success.\n\nState-of-the-Art Resources: Work with the latest tools and technologies you need to innovate and excel in your role.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity to…\nProduce a comprehensive suite of design drawings for Grid and Primary substations.\n\nPrepare technical specifications for Electrical plant and providing associated electrical designs for the substation upgrades, and new substations projects from 110kV up to an including 400kV.\n\nProduce substation design feasibility reports, cost estimate, layouts, GA’s as well as the preparation of plant specifications that include transformers, switchgear and battery systems.\n\nReview designs produced by developers and contractors to ensure designs are technically compliant and in line with current legislation and policies.\n\nEnsure designs are delivered in accordance with the contract to the satisfaction of the client and the specifications.\n\nEnsure that relevant Health and Safety risks and hazards are identified, made known to the project team and properly managed.\n\nUndertake Client / Owner Engineering design reviews for concept, FEED and detailed engineering phases.\n\nAttend design review / workshops with Customers\n\nAttend internal and Client design meetings to support any design or requirement change during project build\n\nAttend FATs and perform construction and inspection follow up on site.\n\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…\nDegree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent\n\nExperience of small, medium and technically complex new substation, retrofit or network reinforcement projects.\n\nProven experience in HV and MV substation design (both AIS & GIS), from 110kv up to and including 400kV.\n\nKnowledge of EirGrid and ESB Networks engineering standards and technical policies and specifications for HV and MV plant, substations (including earthing and electrical clearances).\n\nExposure to substation cable design and protection and control.\n\nExcellent understanding of the H&S requirements and an ability to undertake the role of ‘Designer’ and ‘under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.\n\nPreferable - Attained / working towards chartered engineer status.\n\nDiversity and Inclusion: We are committed to building a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve and therefore you will be part of a team that will include colleagues from across the world.
