The power grid is the backbone of the modern economy, and it is the most critical infrastructure that fuels our modern society. In the field of Transmission Line Design, our engineers take responsibility for the long-term health of high voltage transmission lines by accounting for appropriate structure load development, hardware selection, and necessary operating clearances under a range of weather conditions. Our teams utilize PLS CADD Modeling software and aerial imagery to create a full representation of line routes while interacting directly with key stakeholders at utilities and their construction partners. Skills are developed in the design of models, procurement of construction materials, and production of professional drawings to facilitate construction.\nWSP brings global expertise in power delivery, power generation, and program management-anchored by the acquisition of POWER Engineers, Inc. We're partnering with clients to shape how energy systems evolve around the world-and we need your help.\nYour Impact\nExecute the engineering of transmission projects up to 765kV.\n\nSupport the initial project execution layout to ensure an efficient and effective project plan has been established.\n\nMaintaining a project budget and schedule.\n\nFacilitate and adhere to WSP’s QA/QC procedures.\n\nDevelop transmission line design expertise pertaining to PLS-CADD, structure staking, foundations, assembly drawings, structure loading, material procurement, construction specifications, construction methods, construction estimates, and construction support.\n\nTravel to field, as needed.\n\nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.\n\nComplete training on assigned tasks.\n\nPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.\n\nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.\n\nDemonstrated academic achievement (e.g., GPA 3.0+) is a strong plus.\n\n0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.\n\nExcellent research skills with analytical mindset.\n\nThe candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.\n\nFamiliarity with process and concepts for design/build.\n\nFamiliarity with relevant civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.\n\nCompetent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.\n\nProficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.\n\nAbility to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.\n\nBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.\n\nProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.\n\nAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.\n\nExperience using the Microsoft Office software suite\n\nOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.\n\nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.\n\nPlease note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this position.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\nFamiliarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).\n\nPrior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.\n\nA member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.\n\nIdeal coursework includes structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying\n\nPrevious engineering design or drafting work experience, especially if related to civil and/or structural engineering, is desirable\n\nF.E.
