As one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms, WSP delivers innovative and sustainable solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including Aviation, Healthcare, Mission Critical, Defence and Commercial.

This is a great opportunity for an intermediate-level engineer looking to further develop their technical and consulting experience while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.

What You’ll Do

As a Fire Protection Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of fire protection solutions across a diverse portfolio of building services projects.

Working closely with senior engineers and other disciplines, you’ll be involved throughout the project lifecycle, developing your technical expertise while building strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Designing wet and dry fire protection systems across a range of building services projects.
  • Preparing fire protection designs, calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation.
  • Ensuring designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC) and project requirements.
  • Working collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated project outcomes.
  • Supporting the preparation and coordination of designs using Revit MEP, Navisworks and other BIM tools.
  • Participating in design reviews, project meetings and site inspections as required.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
  • Supporting senior engineers with technical problem-solving and the development of practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment while continuing to develop your technical and consulting capabilities.

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid fire protection engineering experience who is ready to take the next step in their career.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or equivalent) or other relevant engineering qualification.
  • Approximately 3-6 years of relevant experience in fire protection or building services engineering, ideally within the Australian market.
  • Experience in the design and documentation of wet and dry fire protection systems.
  • Good working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and the NCC.
  • Experience with Revit MEP, Navisworks or similar BIM/design tools would be advantageous.
  • Consulting experience is desirable, although candidates from a Design & Construct (D&C) background looking to develop their consulting career are also encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive attitude, attention to detail and genuine interest in developing your career in fire protection engineering.

Why WSP Queensland?

  • Work on diverse, high-impact projects across Queensland and Australia.
  • Build your technical capability alongside experienced fire protection and building services professionals.
