Based in Fort McMurray, Alberta, this full-time role offers hands-on exposure to complex geotechnical field programs and major infrastructure projects in the Oil Sands region.\nThis role is ideal for an energetic, self-motivated professional with a passion for fieldwork and a desire to continue developing technical expertise in geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring.\nYour Impact\nPromote a strong safety culture by ensuring site-specific HSE policies and standard operating procedures are consistently followed\nMonitor geotechnical drilling programs, instrumentation installations, and core sample recovery activities\nClassify soil and bedrock samples and perform field testing of soils, bedrock, and groundwater\nInstall and maintain geotechnical instrumentation supporting slope stability and foundation investigations\nCollect readings from geotechnical instruments such as inclinometers, ShapeAccelArrays (SAA), and vibrating wire instruments\nValidate and document construction monitoring activities including subgrade, foundation, and pile inspections\nCompile accurate field data, maintain detailed records, and communicate findings through clear verbal and written correspondence\nThe Skills That Set You Apart\nCompletion of a Geological, Construction, or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma\nMinimum 3 years of relevant geotechnical or field services experience\nHands-on experience with geotechnical drilling and instrumentation installation\nExperience working in the Alberta Oil Sands region is considered a strong asset\nAbility to work rotational schedules ranging from 1 to 3 weeks on shift, including days and nights\nStrong written and verbal English communication skills with a reliable, safety-focused mindset\nValid unrestricted Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence\nStandard First Aid Level C with AED, CSTS, CSO, and H2S Alive certifications are assets\nWhy Choose WSP?\nWhy Choose WSP?
