The IntermediateTransmission Line Engineer can be located with any of our Power Delivery teams located in any of our Western Canada offices - with preference for Edmonton.\nWSP is a leader in the delivery of clean energy and Power sector solutions to meet the increasing demand for safe, secure, and sustainable energy for Canadians which requires a substantial expansion of the electricity transmission network. In this intermediate role, you will help bring WSP’s vast expertise, experience, and innovation to support our clients, utilities, and communities in the transformation to a new energy future.\nYour Impact\nLead technical aspects of transmission line design projects (34.5kV-500kV), including new lines, relocations, rebuilds, upgrades, structure replacements, and fiber optic additions\nPrepare and review design deliverables, such as plan and profile drawings, material selection, and construction specifications\nConduct quality reviews of internal and subcontractor deliverables\nManage and prioritize multiple projects within budget and time constraints\nEvaluate technical options, criteria, and routes for design merit\nApply knowledge of construction standards for high voltage line work\nCoordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction\nAct as Technical Project Management Lead and maintain strong client relationships\nManage project reporting, invoicing, accounts receivable, and unbilled work\nDevelop and monitor scope, schedules, and budgets against plan and contracts\nEnsure adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirements\nServe as primary liaison between client and project team; understand client interests\nProactively identify challenges and implement solutions for project success\nProvide leadership and mentoring to the project team\nTravel to client offices, field sites, or vendor facilities as required\nSupport business development activities and participate in proposal preparation\nThe Skills That Set You Apart\nCivil (BSCE), Mechanical (BSME), or Electrical (BSEE) or Engineering Physics (BSc) degree, from an accredited university\nBetween 5 to 10 years experience in transmission design - design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages\nProficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite\nExperience in a Project Engineering or Project Management capacity working with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects\nMust have Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.)\nExperience with AutoCAD/Microstation, MFAD, and Microsoft Project is strongly preferred\nKnowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line construction\nDistribution/underbuild design experience is a plus\nManagerial and leadership skills\nWhy Choose WSP?\nWe exist to shape communities to advance humanity.\nProudly Canadian - Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026.\nA global community of brilliant minds - ideas, mentors, and opportunities within reach.\nLimitless opportunities to tailor your career and grow your impact.\nFlexible work and real balance - we support you in prioritizing what matters.\n#WeAreWSP #WithUsYouCan #LI-Hybrid\n\nCompensation:\nBC, AB, SK, NWT & NU: $98,800 to $130,800\nMB & ON: $90,100 to $124,100\nAtlantic Provinces & QC: $89,200 to $118,500\nDisclosure:\nThe final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
