WSP Middle East are currently looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineering intern to be based in our Sharjah office. Over a three-month period, the intern will assist senior engineers in developing detailed designs for chilled water distribution, gas supply systems, pump stations, and related mechanical infrastructure. This role offers hands-on experience with industry-standard software and exposure to large-scale project workflows.
- Assist in the creation of hydraulic and thermal calculations for chilled water networks.
- Develop schematic and layout drawings for gas distribution systems using CAD tools.
- Support the design of pump stations, including selection of pumps and motor specifications.
- Prepare material take-offs and cost estimates for mechanical network components.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs into overall project plans.
- Perform data collection and site surveys to validate design assumptions.
- Update and maintain project documentation and design databases.
- Participate in design review meetings and incorporate feedback.
- Conduct basic performance simulations and generate reports.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and WSP quality procedures.
- Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering, related undergraduate program, or recently graduated.
- Strong academic record with coursework in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD software; familiarity with hydraulic analysis tools is a plus.
- Basic understanding of chilled water, gas, and pump station design principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Eligibility to work in the United Arab Emirates for the internship duration.
