Based in ourSudbury, Ontario OR Saskatoon, Saskatchewan office as aLead I&C Engineer, you will support as a senior subject matter expert in the instrumentation and controls engineering for both new construction and brownfield mining, metals and other heavy industrial projects, influencing project outcomes from concept through completion. Your work will help our clients operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.\nYour Impact\nLead the design and act as the senior technical subject matter expert on the delivery of instrumentation and control systems for mining and heavy industrial facilities\nOversee control philosophy, system architecture, and functional specifications for complex process systems\nCollaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to ensure fully integrated project solutions\nDrive innovation by applying advanced automation, digitalization, and control technologies\nProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and quality reviews for project teams\nSupport project execution through all phases-from concept to commissioning and operational optimization\nEngage with clients to understand operational needs and deliver tailored, high-value engineering solutions\nEnsure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards across all deliverables\nThe Skills That Set You Apart\nAt least 18+ years of electrical engineering design experience supporting heavy industrial facilities.\nDegree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.\nExtensive experienceleading and delivering instrumentation and controls engineering within mining or heavy industrial sectors\nStrong expertise in PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, and process automation platforms\nProven ability to develop control narratives, P&IDs, loop diagrams, and I/O lists\nExperience with commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational support in industrial environments\nStrong understanding of safety systems, hazardous area classification, and applicable codes and standards\nAbility to lead complex projects and mentor junior staff while maintaining high technical excellence\nWhy Choose WSP?\nWe exist to shape communities to advance humanity.
