As a Lead Professional, Welding Engineering, you will provide technical leadership, guide multidisciplinary teams, champion quality and safety, and help deliver innovative solutions that create lasting value for clients and communities.\nYour Impact\nLead welding engineering programs and provide technical oversight for complex projects.\n\nAct as the welding engineering lead, collaborating with quality assurance, engineering, production, and other cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve non-conforming conditions.\n\nDevelop and maintain Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs), and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQs) that meet customer requirements and quality standards for complex nuclear components and vessels.\n\nEnsure welding techniques comply with manufacturing requirements, applicable codes, regulatory requirements, and quality programs.\n\nGuide inspection, fabrication, and construction activities to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.\n\nPrepare supporting documentation, including work orders, technical dispositions, and repair plans, to address identified non-conformances.\n\nLead welding-related corrective actions and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and innovation within the manufacturing environment.\n\nEvaluate and implement innovative welding processes, applications, equipment, and technologies to support current and future manufacturing capabilities.\n\nCollaborate with shop employees and the welder training program to implement welding best practices, optimize performance, and reduce rework.\n\nMentor engineers, inspectors, and technical staff to strengthen capability across the business.\n\nCollaborate with clients, contractors, and project teams to resolve critical engineering challenges.\n\nSupport business development by building client relationships, identifying opportunities, and contributing to proposals and client presentations.\n\nContribute to the successful delivery of projects that support critical infrastructure and sustainable development.\n\nThe Skills That Set You Apart\nBachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.\n\nProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration within Canada.\n\n10+ years of progressive experience in welding engineering, fabrication, construction, or industrial asset integrity.\n\nDemonstrated experience developing welding procedures, qualification programs, and quality assurance systems.\n\nStrong understanding of welding metallurgy, heat affected zone behavior, ferrite control, weldability assessments, preheat requirements, PWHT requirements, hydrogen cracking mechanisms, and dissimilar metal joining.\n\nDemonstrated expertise in the application of ASME Section , Section VIII, Section II, Section V and Section IX.\n\nAdvanced knowledge of ASME Section IX qualification requirements, including interpretation of essential variables, procedure qualifications, welder qualifications, P-Number grouping, F-Numbers, and qualification range assessments.\n\nExperience selecting and evaluating base materials and welding consumables in accordance with ASME Section II Parts A, B, C, and D.\n\nWorking knowledge of ASME Section V examination methods including RT, UT, PT, MT and VT, and their application to pressure-retaining components.\n\nExtensive experience interpreting and applying welding-related requirements for pressure-retaining components and nuclear safety-related equipment.`\n\nExperience with CSA N285, CSA N299, CSA B51, and nuclear quality assurance programs is strongly preferred.\n\nProven ability to lead technical teams and manage client relationships on complex projects.\n\nExceptional technical report writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.\n\nAbility to travel to project sites and maintain required safety certifications for field work.\n\nWhy Choose WSP?\nWhy Choose WSP?
