While the job site is in Northern Nevada, this full-time onsite position can be based anywhere in the United States with preference in Nevada, Utah, Alaska, or near major mining projects. Travel per diem is available for those not local to the project.\nThe full-time Construction Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) performance across the project and site compliance with all local, regional, legislative and client regulations and standards. The Construction Safety Coordinator will verify and validate the contractors delivering safe civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and earthworks scopes for projects that may involve construction on a mining site. This role involves collaborating with internal WSP construction, engineering, and procurement team members and with the client, contractors, and other stakeholders to foster a strong health and safety culture that is focused on delivering successful outcomes.The role reports to the Project Health and Safety Manager.\nYour Impact\nensuring contractor compliance with applicable safety standards, rules, and regulations throughout the project lifecycle.\nConduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.\nParticipate in the investigation of workplace incidents and near misses, as per company workplace incident policy and procedure. Document findings and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety measures.\nParticipate in the collection and analyze health and safety data, \nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. \nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of specialized education, technical training, and progressive hands-on industry experience.\n10+ years of relevant hands-on safety management experience in active mining settings, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked across both open pit and underground mine development projects.\nExperience in large-scale heavy civil construction, process facilities, and/or mining infrastructure, such as haul roads, underground access (declines, shafts, drifts), waste rock facilities, tailings systems, and associated support facilities and related environmental controls.\nCommitment to safety.
