The ideal candidate will combine strong project management capability, PMP certification and a relevant technical qualification to lead complex energy infrastructure projects across South Africa, the broader African continent and international markets.\nAs a senior project leader, you will manage multidisciplinary teams involved in the planning, design coordination and delivery of power generation projects, ensuring that technical, commercial, programme and stakeholder requirements are effectively managed from concept through to execution.\nWorking closely with clients, contractors, project stakeholders and technical specialists, you will be accountable for project delivery, programme management, commercial performance and technical quality, while ensuring projects are executed safely and in accordance with applicable standards for power generation environments.\nResponsibilities\nManage and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects.\n\nSupport the preparation of conceptual and functional designs, specifications, bills of quantity and tender documents for power generation projects.\n\nManage project schedules, budgets, resources and delivery programmes to ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.\nEnsure engineering deliverables comply with IEC, IEEE, SANS and client-specific standards where applicable.\nCoordinate project activities with clients, contractors, stakeholders and internal engineering disciplines.\nLead project meetings, prepare minutes and provide clear project progress updates.\nPrepare comprehensive project reports, cost estimates and budgets.\nContribute to proposals by preparing and reviewing project scope, methodology, schedules and budgets for consultancy services.\nMaintain relationships with internal divisions, external contractors and clients.\nKeep up to date with technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications relevant to substation project delivery.\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate\nRelevant technical qualification from an internationally recognised institution.\n\nPMP certification or professional registration with an internationally recognised project management institution.\n\n15+ years’ experience in transmission and distribution, including substantial experience managing and delivering substation projects.\nExperience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex power generation and energy infrastructure projects.\n\nKnowledge of IEC, IEEE and SANS standards, as well as client-specific requirements where applicable.\nExperience preparing and reviewing technical documentation, project reports, cost estimates, schedules and budgets.\nProfessional registration with an internationally recognised engineering institution.\nPrevious experience with system studies, primary plant and secondary plant design will be advantageous.\nAbility to work as part of a dispersed and remote team using collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams.\nAbility to travel in accordance with project requirements.\nHealth and Safety\nRole model standards for SHEQ performance and behaviour consistent with WSP’s health, safety, environmental and quality vision and policies.\nContribute to the identification and management of SHEQ risks to support the achievement of Zero Harm.\nPromote WSP values and maintain a safe working environment at all times.\nMaintain awareness of health and safety considerations associated with power generation and energy infrastructure project delivery.\n\nDon’t quite meet all the criteria?\nApply, and we can see how your experience aligns to this role and other opportunities within the team.\nImagine a better future for you and a better future for us all \nJoin our close-knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact.
