You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.\nA little more about your role…\nJoin our Energy team in Midrand and help deliver utility-scale Solar PV and Wind Energy projects across Southern Africa, with opportunities to support selected international assignments. You will advise investors, developers and lenders throughout the renewable energy project lifecycle, from early-stage assessment and feasibility through design review, procurement, construction monitoring, testing and commissioning.\nYou will work with multidisciplinary specialists, build trusted client relationships and contribute to proposals and business growth across South Africa and the wider region. The role may require travel of up to 50% to client offices, project sites and manufacturers’ premises, including travel within Africa.\nWhat will you do?\nYou will:\nLead technical advisory assignments for utility-scale Solar PV and Wind Energy projects.\n\nCoordinate mechanical, electrical, civil, control and instrumentation inputs across multidisciplinary projects.\n\nProvide technical input from initial assessment and feasibility through design review, procurement, construction monitoring, testing and commissioning.\n\nPrepare and manage technical specifications, tenders, evaluations and contractor selection processes.\n\nSupport technical due diligence, financial close and the review of EPC, Balance of Plant, operations and maintenance, and other key project contracts.\n\nIdentify technical, construction, operational and financial risks and recommend practical mitigation measures.\n\nDevelop proposals, scope and price services, and support client and market growth across South Africa and the wider region.\n\nBuild trusted relationships with clients, contractors and internal teams while mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical outputs.\n\nPromote WSP’s SHEQ standards and contribute to a safe, responsible and quality-focused working environment.\n\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…\nA BSc Engineering or BTech Engineering qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.\n\nApproximately three to six years of postgraduate renewable energy experience, with demonstrated Solar PV expertise; Wind Energy experience will be advantageous.\n\nKnowledge of the South African renewable energy market, including REIPPPP; regional or international exposure is preferred.\n\nExperience advising investors, project developers, lenders or banks across feasibility, development engineering, construction monitoring, testing, commissioning or operational inspections.\n\nKnowledge of Solar PV plant design, layouts, energy yield assessments and grid connection interfaces.\n\nExperience with utility-scale applications, including ground-mounted, building-mounted, fixed-tilt or tracking systems.\n\nDemonstrated proposal development, project coordination, technical report writing and client engagement skills.\n\nECSA registration as a Candidate Engineer.
