As such, we are looking for someone with an interest in taking on the most interesting bridge work Canada has to offer.\nReporting to the Ottawa Bridge Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible for the preliminary and detailed design of bridges and other civil structures for federal, provincial and municipal clients in Ontario and Canada. If you’re interested in working on some of the largest projects in Canada, this is the perfect opportunity to join our collaborative design team.\nOur Bridge Team is a highly qualified group experienced in bridge planning, new design, rehabilitation design, inspection, evaluation, and project administration that collaborates with other teams based in Ontario and the rest of Canada, sharing work and knowledge. Our senior staff have published numerous technical papers on bridge design, rehabilitation and construction, and continue to be active on a range of technical and bridge code committees. The firm is proud of its reputation for leadership in the bridge engineering field and of it has been recognized by receiving several major awards for unique and challenging bridge designs.\nYour Impact\nLead the preliminary and detailed design of complex bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures for all levels of government\nPerform and coordinate structural analysis and design\nManage bridge engineering projects, coordinate design teams, and support project management and technical teams across WSP\nPrepare engineering drawings, specifications and reports\nProvide QA/QC and peer-review services for designs and drawings\nReview shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction\nContribute to proposal development and technical write-ups \nProvide technical guidance and direction to intermediate and junior engineers, support staff, contractors, and/or vendors\nDemonstrate sound written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical and application skills\nWork well under pressure to meet project deadlines\nThe skills that set you apart\nUniversity degree in Civil Engineering \nProfessional Engineer (licenced with PEO) with 7-12 years demonstrated experience in the area of structural design and bridge engineering in Canada\nMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering is considered an asset\nAbility to work and converse in French is considered an asset\nSuperior technical understanding, design abilities, and up-to-date knowledge of current bridge technologies\nProficiency in structural analysis software used in bridge design and assessment\nSpecific areas of expertise required are in the planning, preliminary and detail design, and construction of bridges of standard and complex geometry, and culverts.
