As part of the Shropshire Alliance, working collaboratively alongside Shropshire Council and Kier, we deliver a diverse programme of infrastructure projects that make a lasting difference to local communities.\nThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our bridges and structures team. You'll help deliver work ranging from bridge maintenance and structural assessments to major infrastructure improvements and strategic asset management.\nThe role is based from our Shrewsbury office, with flexible working offering a blend of office and home working. We would also welcome applications from candidates based in Birmingham, with regular travel to Shropshire.\nWhat you'll be doing\nYou'll take a leading role in bridge and highway structure projects, including:\nLeading bridge maintenance and renewal designs, from investigation and feasibility through to detailed design.\nSupporting tender activity, site inspections, construction supervision and structural assessment.\nUndertaking inspections in accordance with DMRB and the Inspection Manual for Highway Structures.\nProviding technical input to project briefs, proposals and deliverables with Project Managers.\nChecking, certifying and authorising designs, documents, reports and Approval in Principle (AIP) submissions.\nManaging the delivery of technical outputs across project teams.\nDemonstrating compliance with health, safety, welfare and CDM responsibilities.\nWorking collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, the client team and delivery partners.\nContributing to technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.\nSupporting line management and mentoring, where appropriate.\nYour team\nYou'll be an integral part of a highly collaborative Shropshire team of approximately 75 people. We work across multi-asset teams, providing individual and cross-asset expertise to deliver projects, major programmes and strategic planning for our client.\nOur renewed contract creates exciting opportunities across infrastructure, economic growth, buildings management and project management. We're looking for people who share our ambition to deliver high-quality outcomes for the communities of Shropshire.\nOur Shrewsbury office is located in a historic market town offering independent shops, restaurants and riverside walks along the River Severn, together with the flexibility to combine home and office working.\nWhat we're looking for\nA relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.\nMembership of a relevant professional body, with CEng or IEng status, or evidence of advanced progress towards a future submission.\nExperience as a Structural Engineer, with a focus on bridges and other highway structures.\nEvidence of independently leading or delivering complex engineering projects.\nStrong technical, communication and stakeholder-management skills.\nA collaborative approach and a commitment to innovation and technical quality.\nWe are open to applications from candidates who already hold a UK Skilled Worker visa and need to transfer their sponsorship to a new employer.
