You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.\nA little more about your role…\nProvide senior engineering leadership across transmission projects, supporting the development, review, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning of high-voltage assets. The role acts as a technical assurance interface between project teams and our clients.\nA core purpose of the role is to review and challenge designs, manage technical queries, support specification development, and provide clear technical direction throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will bring strong transmission engineering judgement across substations, HV cables and overhead lines, together with the ability to influence delivery teams and maintain consistently high standards across projects.\nKey Responsibilities\nReview and assess detailed designs against functional requirements, standard designs, client specifications, and relevant national and international standards.\nReview functional and technical specifications.\nManage technical queries through the project lifecycle, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently, documented appropriately, and aligned with applicable standards and policies.\nUndertake site inspection and monitoring of construction progress to confirm works are being delivered in accordance with approved designs and standards.\nUndertake pre-commissioning and commissioning inspections to confirm transmission system requirements have been satisfied before tests proceed.\nRepresent clients in project reviews, technical assessments, audits, factory acceptance tests and approval forums, if required.\nKnowledge Skills and Experience\nDegree in relevant Engineering Discipline.\nStrong technical knowledge of transmission substations, including experience assessing onshore substation designs for compliance at 110 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV.\nExperience across substation, overhead line and cables, including working knowledge of relevant standards.\nAbility to assess project designs, construction activity and commissioning phases against functional, technical, operational and safety requirements.\nExperience carrying out site inspections and monitoring construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for transmission assets.\nUnderstanding of design deliverables such as single line diagrams, substation layouts, protection schematics and interlocking documentation.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly and produce high-quality reports.\nProven ability to track key tasks, take ownership of technical deliverables, influence stakeholders and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.\nAbility to coach or mentor colleagues and provide technical support to junior team members.\nDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
