The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary teams on innovative projects including advanced research laboratories, pharmaceutical and biotechnology facilities, clean rooms, semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities, higher education research environments, and other technical building types.\nWorking alongside industry-leading engineers, architects, and subject matter experts, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in project planning, design, coordination, and technical delivery. This position offers opportunities for project leadership, client engagement, and mentoring junior staff while supporting some of the most technically challenging projects in the built environment.\nBe involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and help meet our clients' objectives while solving their greatest building systems challenges.\nYour Impact\nLead the design and analysis of HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, hydronic, and specialty mechanical systems for Science & Technology facilities.\nDevelop engineering calculations, equipment selection, energy studies, and technical evaluations for complex building systems.\nPrepare and review plans, specifications, reports, and construction documents.\nCoordinate with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and specialty engineering disciplines.\nServe as a technical resource for project teams throughout planning, design, construction administration, and project closeout.\nParticipate in client meetings, design workshops, and project presentations.\nConduct field investigations, site assessments, and construction observations.\nSupport laboratory planning and design efforts, including high-performance ventilation, pressurization, clean room systems, and specialty process environments.\nAssist with project scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to early-career engineers and designers.\nContribute to quality assurance reviews and technical excellence initiatives.\nSupport sustainable design, decarbonization strategies, energy efficiency measures, and resilience planning.\nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.\nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.\n5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience within the building engineering consulting industry.\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.\nDemonstrated progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE license within a reasonable timeframe.\nExperience designing HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, higher education, healthcare, science & technology, or industrial facilities.\nProficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and building systems design software.\nKnowledge of ASHRAE standards, mechanical codes, and industry best practices.\nExperience preparing engineering calculations, reports, technical studies, and construction documents.\nStrong technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.\nAbility to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license.\nPrior experience supporting Science & Technology projects such as laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, biotechnology facilities, clean rooms, data centers, or advanced manufacturing environments.\nExperience with laboratory ventilation systems, energy modeling, computational analysis, or specialty mechanical systems.\nFamiliarity with sustainable building design, building performance analysis, and decarbonization initiatives.\nMaster's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.\nExperience serving as a task lead or discipline lead on projects.\nExperience mentoring junior engineering staff.\nWSP Benefits: \nWSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
