You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.\nA little more about your role…\nWSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Senior Engineer to join the Roads team based in Wales, in either our Cardiff or Wrexham offices.\nYou’ll be working alongside a host of talented people ranging from our early career professionals to established engineers and project managers across our Roads business, using your technical skills and expertise to help us continue delivering exemplary services to our clients for a diverse range of sectors, clients and projects through all stages of the project life cycle.\nYou could find yourself playing a key role in a variety of projects including strategic network improvements, major and minor highway maintenance and asset renewals, active travel and public transport infrastructure, road safety interventions, as well as public realm initiatives.\nOur well-established regional client base includes Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent, South Wales Trunk Road Agent, and Welsh local authorities. If a broader client and project experience interests you, you could find yourself supporting national projects such as National Highway’s Scheme Delivery Framework, or our wider Transport & Infrastructure business unit in sectors such a Rail, Water, Energy & Defence. The opportunities within WSP are endless.\nYou will:\nDeliver engineering solutions for projects, or work packages of varying scale, complexity, value and project stages, and could be working across several projects at any given time.\nBe responsible for ensuring your projects are delivered to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements.\nLiaise with our clients, stakeholders and internal disciplines, developing trusted relationships, and proactively managing expectations.\nWork closely with Project and Technical Delivery Leads in planning, programming, and pricing of proposals and deliverables.\nBe responsible for checking and certifying designs, documents and reports prior to approval. \nLead and coordinate resources during the delivery of projects or work packages. \nMentor and upskill more junior staff helping them develop professionally and progress towards professional qualifications.\nBe responsible for compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation and in-house quality assurance standards/processes.\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…\nA passion for design and developing innovative solutions, demonstrating initiative and ingenuity to solve engineering problems.\nA Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, or suitable equivalent.\nHold IEng or are working towards CEng with demonstrable progress. \nWide-ranging knowledge and experience of highway design at various stages of the project life cycle. Specific experience in any, or all, of the following areas is advantageous: highway geometry, active travel, public transport, highway drainage, road restraint systems, pavements, traffic signs and road markings, and utilities.\nBroad knowledge of relevant design standards and codes of best practice such as the Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, TSRGD, Active Travel Act (Wales) Guidance, and Local Authority design guidance.\nExperience of leading single or multi-disciplinary projects, or work packages. \nAre well versed in the preparation and checking of reports and drawings for transport studies, and or, construction projects. \nThe ability to use, direct or check the use of relevant software for example Autodesk Civils 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage, Causeway and/or PDS.\nKnowledge of all duty holders under CDM regulations.\nAwareness and proactive management of project and commercial risk in collaboration with Project and Technical Delivery Leads.\nGood communication, client/stakeholder management and interpersonal skills are essential. \nDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
