The candidate will work on projects with our Civil/Structural Team and be part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.\nThis Opportunity\nUnder minimal supervision, leads other engineers, designers, and drafters and performs all aspects of electrical substation structural design, including foundation, structure, rigid bus, and control building design. Tasks may include developing structural construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules.\nYour Impact\nLead other engineers, designers, and drafters, and self-perform all aspects of electrical substation structural design, including foundations, structural supports, and control building design.\nSupport of substation physical design with bus analysis calculations and coordinating with multiple disciplines on results.\nPreparation of calculation packages to satisfy client, code, and WSP requirements.\nCoordinate with all disciplines contributing to electrical substation design.\nEvaluate constructability of electrical substations.\nAssure plans adhere to client and WSP standards. \nEnsure dimensions, materials, and quality for assigned projects meet the contract requirements.\nDevelopment of structural construction specifications, cost estimates, engineering proposals, and project schedules.\nReview shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction phase support.\nOccasional travel will be required.\nStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with other team members.\nAbility to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently and manage budgets and schedules.\nWe expect everyone on the team to assume ownership of the project’s goals and success.\nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.\nPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.\nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\nBSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering) degree from an ABET accredited college.\n5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in the field of structural design.\nExpertise in structural analysis, including steel and concrete design, soil mechanics, and foundation design.\nMechanical reasoning skills and attention to detail.\nAbility to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.\nBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, spreadsheets, and tools.\nStrong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.\nAdvanced knowledge of building codes and standards (ASCE, ACI, AISC, IEEE, etc).\nSuccessful completion of the NCEES Professional Engineering (PE) exam.\nProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.\nAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.\nOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in electric utility substation design.\nExperience with RISA, MathCAD, LPile, is beneficial.\nAbility to successfully participate in multiple projects concurrently and manage budgets and schedules.\nDisclaimer:\nHybrid and remote work opportunities are available.\nRelocation assistance is not available for this position.\nWSP Benefits:\nWSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
