You will work closely with our professionals, collaborate with industry experts, and work on various projects in Northern / Northwestern Ontario (as well as throughout the rest of Ontario and potentially across the country.\nAt WSP, we're continuing to grow and develop our expertise in Geotechnical Engineering, operating as a trusted advisor and technical expert on engineering design challenges for our clients across multiple industries.\nYour Impact\nAssist in the growth of WSP’s Geotechnical Engineering presence in Thunder Bay and area and overall, in Northwestern Ontario by growing our private, public sector and indigenous community geotechnical engineering client base and project portfolio.\nLead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion.\nFacilitate site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical analysis.\nPrepare and review geotechnical reports, designs, and recommendations.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and technical staff.\nCollaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.\nEnsure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.\nParticipate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client meetings/presentations, team development, as well as site visits across Northern Ontario.\nStay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into projects.\nThe Skills That Set You Apart\nBachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).\nRegistered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.\nMinimum of 10 years of relevant (post-degree) working experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on consulting and/or project management.\nA track record in business development, including a strong existing client base is preferred.\nDemonstrated success in customer services, client management and proposal/report writing.\nStrong technical knowledge in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.\nProficiency in geotechnical software and tools.\nStrong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence.\nAbility to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.\nAn Ontario Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.\nSense of initiative, attention to detail & team spirit.\nCommitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues.\nWe exist to shape communities to advance humanity.
