This role is ideal for an experienced construction technician who enjoys working in the field, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of infrastructure and construction projects.\nAs part of our Technical Services team, you will provide senior-level field support, oversee construction activities, conduct inspections, document project progress, and help ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable health and safety standards.\nWhy WSP?\nWe value and are committed to upholding a culture of inclusion and belonging.\nOur Flexible Work Policy recognizes the importance of balance in our lives.\nWe offer opportunities to work on meaningful projects with experienced technical professionals.\nWe support career development and provide opportunities to expand your technical and leadership capabilities.\nWhat You Can Expect to Do Here\nPerform and coordinate construction inspection and field monitoring activities on a variety of projects.\nReview construction activities to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, standards, and contractual requirements.\nMonitor contractor activities, construction progress, workmanship, and materials.\nIdentify and document deficiencies, field issues, and deviations from project requirements.\nPrepare clear and accurate daily and weekly field reports, inspection records, photographs, quantities, and other project documentation.\nCoordinate with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, project managers, clients, and other project stakeholders.\nSupport field-level problem solving and help resolve technical and logistical issues encountered during construction.\nAssist with quantity measurements, progress tracking, and verification of completed work.\nParticipate in site meetings and communicate construction progress and concerns to the project team.\nSupport quality assurance and quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and sampling where required.\nPromote and follow WSP's health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while working on construction sites.\nProvide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and field staff where appropriate.\nThese responsibilities reflect comparable Ottawa-area WSP technician work involving site inspection, contractor coordination, construction supervision, field problem solving, reporting, sampling and quality control.\nWhat You'll Bring to WSP\nCollege diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.\nTypically 4+ years of relevant technical experience, with significant experience in construction inspection, field services, contract administration, or construction supervision. WSP's internal career framework associates the Senior Technician level with approximately 10+ years of experience. \nStrong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, standards, and field procedures.\nDemonstrated experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.\nStrong observation, documentation, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to prepare clear and concise field reports and maintain accurate construction records.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills.\nAbility to work independently in a field environment while collaborating effectively with the broader project team.\nCommitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.\nValid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites in Ottawa and the surrounding region.\nExperience with municipal, transportation, civil infrastructure, geotechnical, or similar construction projects would be considered an asset.\nRelevant Ontario certifications or industry designations would be considered an asset.\nCompensation\nAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $69,700 - $92,300\nMB & ON:$63,600 - $87,500\nNB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $62,900 - $83,600 \nDisclosure: The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
