WSP are currently involved in numerous projects, working with Colocation Providers, End Users and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.\nTo find out more about our Mission Critical business click on the following link and discover what awaits you at WSP: https://www.wsp.com/en-GB/sectors/mission-critical-facilities\nA little more about your role…\nCandidates will support the team in developing conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage incorporating high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear and power control and monitoring systems\nProvide advice to clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.\nLeading the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment\nProvide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.\nProduce technical specifications for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements\nEnsure coordination other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers\nProduce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.\nMonitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers’ requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.\nBe comfortable in a client facing role discussing technical subjects with the ability to discuss and agree client requirements.\nWork independently and as part of the WSP global project team.\nYour Team:\nYou will be based in our award winning Birmingham office at The Mailbox, offering easy commuting options and amenities just around the corner.\nOur growing Birmingham team consists of 50 plus MEP engineers. You will be working closely with these likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging Building Services MEP projects across healthcare, commercial offices, residential, industry, defense and sports & leisure.\nThe team will be supported by local, regional and international experts.\nWSP care about your career development and offer mentorship and training aligned with your aspirations.\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…\nChartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience\nTechnical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etc\nIT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Trimble (formally Amtech)\nAn understanding of the ETAP software package for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics)\nAn understanding of the Neher-McGrath method of calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacity\nAn understanding of the Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime institute, TIA942 and EN50600\nAble to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals\nHave understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.\nHave working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.\nElectrical design skills required:\nLarge Power (11Kv) Distribution Systems\nElectrical Building Load Assessments\nStandby Generation and UPS\nFire/Voice Alarm and Security Systems\nData Centres and Financial Services Establishments\nLighting Design (internal and external)\nLifts\nCombined Heat and Power Plant\nDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
