WSP are currently involved in numerous projects, working with Colocation Providers, End Users and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.\nTo find out more about our Mission Critical business click on the following link and discover what awaits you at WSP: https://www.wsp.com/en-GB/sectors/mission-critical-facilities\nA little more about your role…\nCandidates will support the team in developing designs for mechanical distribution systems from CHW, HVAC, Fuel to LTHW\nProvide advice to clients regarding mechanical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.\nLeading the design of data centre mechanical systems and equipment\nProvide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.\nProduce technical specifications for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements\nEnsure coordination other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers\nProduce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.\nMonitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers’ requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.\nOperational responsibilities:\nAble to work using their own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.\nAble to work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.\nWork in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team providing design and technical advice in a WSP project manager capacity on a wide range of projects.\nComplete the detailed designs of mission critical facilities and all mechanical systems associated to data centres.\nConsider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.\nTake responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.\nReview the detailed design programme and ensure that sufficient resource is available to complete the works.\nYour Team:\nYou will be based in our award winning Birmingham office at The Mailbox, offering easy commuting options and amenities just around the corner.\n\nOur growing Birmingham team consists of 50 plus MEP engineers. You will be working closely with these likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging Building Services MEP projects across healthcare, commercial offices, residential, industry, defense and sports & leisure.\n\nThe team will be supported by local, regional and international experts.\n\nWSP care about your career development and offer mentorship and training aligned with your aspirations.\n\nWhat we will be looking for you to demonstrate…\nKnowledge and experience in designing mechanical systems for data centres \nChartered status (or working towards Chartered status) with CIBSE or IMechE or equivalent experience\nTechnical MEP knowledge of relevant UK and EU regulations, design guides, etc\nHave an understanding of the of Uptime Institute Tier Classification System\nFlexible approach to meet the demands of projects\nHave working understanding of TAS of IES and Hevacomp to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects\nHave understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects\nHave working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects\nAble to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals within and outside of the WSP team\nExperience of working to timescales and deadlines\nMechanical Design Skills required:\nU value calculations\nHeat loss calculations\nHeat gain calculations\nPipe sizing (LTHW, CHW, HWS, CWS etc)\nPump sizing\nDuct sizing\nFan sizing\nPsychrometrics\nControl valve sizing and authority\nThermal modelling\nBMS Systems\nHave understanding of CFD analysis\nDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
