As a Solar PV Engineer with us, you will be part of our national renewable energy team, leveraging your skills in the design and optimization of utility-scale solar project systems across Canada. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals from multiple engineering disciplines, support projects from early-stage development through detailed design and construction, and help deliver practical, high-performing renewable energy solutions for our clients.\nThis is an opportunity to deepen your solar expertise, contribute to the continuous improvement of our technical practices, and grow your career within one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms.\nThis position can be located out of any of our Canadian WSP Offices - ideally, Ontario or Quebec.\nYour Impact\nDesign and optimize utility-scale solar PV projects across Canada.\n\nCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, constructible solutions.\n\nDevelop and optimize solar layouts, equipment configurations, and design parameters.\n\nSupport projects from feasibility and development through design, construction, commissioning, and operations.\n\nEvaluate PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and other equipment.\n\nAnalyze geospatial and project data and prepare deliverables using AutoCAD and GIS tools.\n\nSupport energy-yield assessments and interpret modelling results and performance drivers.\n\nContribute to technical due diligence and independent engineering reviews.\n\nReview calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and third-party deliverables.\n\nPresent technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients and project teams.\n\nImprove solar design workflows, modelling methods, tools, and services.\n\nCollaborate with renewable energy experts across Canada and take on increasingly complex assignments.\n\nThe skills that set you apart\nUniversity Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Energy or other relevant engineering discipline.\n\n5 to 10 years of relevant experience in solar energy, power generation, engineering consulting, or a closely related field. Utility-scale projects experience expected.\n\nP.ENG licensed or in final stages (within a year).\n\nExperience supporting the design, optimization, energy assessment, or technical review of solar PV projects.\n\nAn understanding of utility-scale solar technologies and the interaction between layouts, equipment selection, site conditions, constructability, and energy performance.\n\nA practical, analytical, and collaborative approach to solving engineering problems.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to clients and multidisciplinary teams.\n\nThe ability to organize priorities and contribute effectively to multiple projects in a consulting environment.\n\nEligibility for registration as a professional engineer in Canada, or progress toward registration, is preferred.\n\nExperience with solar modelling software such as PVsyst, HelioScope, or SAM is considered an asset.\n\nProficiency with AutoCAD a must.\n\nExperience in Civil 3D, GIS tools, or solar-layout optimization software is considered an asset.\n\nWhy choose WSP?\nWe exist to shape communities to advance humanity.
