This role supports the manufacturing of high-precision components and contributes directly to engineering and testing activities. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, accurate data collection, and proactive equipment care to ensure consistent, high-quality output. This position will report to the Workshop ManagerJob Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:\nExecute the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, with minimal supervision.\nUnderstanding of shop PPE and safety\nResponsible for verifying part conformance to model and/or blueprint.\nAssist in quoting, lead times, and tooling selection\nProvide part design concerns for manufacturing to Shop manager\n Programming & Machining OperationsDevelop CNC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, etc.) to produce efficient and reliable toolpaths for complex components.\nIndependently set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual machines, including dual-spindle lathes and 5-axis mills, while maintaining required tolerances.\nPerform machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, broaching, and machining of metallic and nonmetallic materials.\nDesign and produce custom fixturing/workholding solutions; mount, align, and secure tooling and workpieces for optimal performance.\n\nTechnical Interpretation & CollaborationRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications to determine machining methods, tooling requirements, and sequencing.\nCollaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to implement new processes, tooling concepts, and manufacturing technologies.\nContribute to continuous improvement efforts related to part machinability, process efficiency, and equipment utilization.\n\n Quality Assurance & DocumentationConduct in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, etc.).\nDocument all work activities clearly, completely, and in accordance with company procedures and traceability requirements.\nIdentify, troubleshoot, and communicate equipment, process, or quality issues promptly to supervisors or engineering staff.\n\n Equipment Care & SafetyPerform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure optimal machine performance.\nFollow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and hazardous-materials handling requirements.\nMaintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with safety and 5S/lean workplace standards.\nAssist in training new team members on machine operation, shop practices, and safety procedures.\n\nMaintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.\nPerform other duties as assigned by manager.\nJob Profile Minimum Qualifications:\nThe skills required for this role are typically demonstrated by 15 plus years of relevant experience.\n\nHigh school diploma or GED.\n\nFifteen (15) years of experience in a manufacturing environment with CNC programming and machine setup responsibilities.\n\nProficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, or equivalent).\n\nDemonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve routine machine, tooling, and programming issues independently.\n\nExperience using precision measuring devices and inspection tools.\n\nAbility to collect, record, and organize technical data with a high degree of accuracy.\n\nFamiliarity with industrial safety practices, emergency procedures, and hazardous-materials handling.\n\nAbility to work with common hand tools and basic shop equipment.\n\nCompetence with basic computer applications and electronic data entry systems.\n\nAbility to push, pull, move, or lift at least 50 lbs.\n\nWillingness to obtain relevant technical and safety certifications (e.g., OSHA-30, forklift, hazardous materials, OEM machine certifications).\n\nThe skills required for this role are typically demonstrated by 15 plus years of relevant experience.\n\nFully capable of programming complex parts, on any machine.\n\nCAM software certification (e.g., Mastercam Certified Programmer, Siemens NX CAM Certification)\n\nExpert-level process planning from solid model to finished part.\n\nDevelop complex fixtures(pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.)\n\nDevelop and edit post processors as needed\n\nSubject-matter expert on tooling technology\n\nCapable of setting up for lights out minimal operator input machining.\n\nExperience with automation integration including robot tending, pallet systems, and adaptive machining\n\nCan reverse engineer parts with only a sample, no drawing.\n\nExpert in at least two major CAM platforms and advanced post-processor customization\n\nProficient with advanced inspection technology including CMM programming\n\nLocation: Frederick, MD\nHours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Mon-Fri\nCompensation\nAs required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).
