This includes oversight of resources to develop system requirements and produce key design deliverables, such as, calculations, drawings, datasheets, specifications, reports, and other system-defining documentation. This role supports the management of a team of engineers engaged in both direct development of the design as well as oversight of third-party engineering contractors to create portions of the design.Job Responsibilities\nSupport the execution of the designing and developing plant mechanical systems and components using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.\nSupports the management of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work.\nLead project design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers in delivering high-quality engineering work products on schedule and within budget as defined by the Project leadership.\nTracks deliverables according to progress and schedule while ensuring such deliverables are completed with quality and on time. Determines the appropriate resource to produce the deliverable.\nMay manage engineering staff by ensuring they meet expectations and promoting their professional development.\nSupports the Business Development workgroup, providing technical resources when needed and engaging with potential future clients to promote marketing of X-energy products and/or technologies.\nSupports the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for their area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.\nAssesses internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.\nUses judgement to support making decisions and handling complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, technology, or engineering.\nAssesses quality of information given and asks pertinent questions to stakeholders.\nOffers new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and proactively constructs and provides recommendations.\nPerforms work in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of work, facilitation of internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data.\nMaintains professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.\nPerforms other duties as assigned by manager.\nJob Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical or systems engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college.\nTypically, 10+ years of engineering experience\nRequires specialized knowledge within the function of mechanical engineering or systems engineering, related to system requirements, system physical architecture, integrated system design, technical data management, and technical risk management.\n\nPreferred Experience\nExperience as a consultant in an EPC environment designing integrated mechanical systems for major power plant projects.\nExperience working directly in or with the nuclear industry; in particular, working in or with existing light water reactor (LWR) fleet plants and/or developing mechanical system design for use with advanced reactor / SMR technology.\nExperience developing and leading the development of full integrated mechanical system design for major power plant projects, from initial concept to releasing design for construction.\nExperience managing the technical portion of equipment and material procurement contracts (specification, bid, bid evaluation, selection, and contractor management through delivery)\nExperience supporting construction of power plants or other heavy industry facilities, including direct field experience or office support of construction activities.\nLocation: 9801 Washingtonian Blvd, Gaithersburg, MD \nWork Site Expectations: 5 days in office\nTravel Expectations: Up to 10%\nHours: Standard office hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm ET, Monday - Friday\nCompensation\nAs required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).
