This role ensures delivery in alignment with project schedule, budget, commercial obligations, and technical requirements while upholding the highest standards of Safety, Health, Environmental, Quality, and Security (SHEQS).The Senior Execution Project Manager provides advanced technical judgment, commercial acumen, and cross-functional leadership to drive packages from concept and design through fabrication, regulatory compliance, installation, commissioning, and final handover.\nThis role serves as a senior subject matter expert and key decision-maker, proactively identifying risks, execution gaps, and opportunities, and developing mitigation and recovery strategies in collaboration with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Project Controls, and Project Leadership teams.\nThe position provides authoritative reporting and insights on package performance, risks, cost exposure, and schedule outlook for the Project Director, Project Management Team, and, when required, Corporate Management.\nJob Profile Tasks/Responsibilities\n\nStrategic Equipment Execution & Delivery\nLead execution of complex, high-criticality, or first-of-a-kind equipment packages, ensuring alignment with overarching project strategy.\nDevelop and implement advanced execution strategies to manage technical complexity, long-lead items, and dynamic project conditions.\nOversee and enforce Configuration Management principles and ensure all changes follow strict change control processes.\nDirect the application of design-for-manufacturing principles, particularly for FOAK components or platforms requiring advanced engineering stewardship.\nValidate manufacturability, transportation, installation, and commissioning constraints before commercial award, escalating gaps requiring leadership decision.\nEnsure quality requirements, inspection regimes, and regulatory obligations are integrated across all stages of execution and are met prior to package handover.\nOwn performance against bid basis cost and schedule, driving early identification of deviations and implementing senior-level intervention or recovery plans.\nProject Reporting, Governance & Controls\nDeliver accurate, executive-level reporting, including forward-looking assessments and scenario-based projections.\nMaintain comprehensive and auditable records of all cost, commitments, changes, and forecast assumptions.\nPartner with Project Controls leadership to validate trends, quantify schedule risks, and ensure forecast integrity.\nShape installation and commissioning strategies by coordinating with schedulers and field execution teams.\nRisk, Opportunity & Change Management\nLead identification and quantification of strategic risks and opportunities across assigned packages.\nServe as a senior authority for the Management of Change process, ensuring impacts are fully understood, documented, and communicated.\nDevelop contingency strategies, lead root-cause analysis, and contribute to enterprise-wide lessons learned programs.\nStakeholder, Supplier & Cross-Functional Leadership\nServe as the senior interface with internal and external stakeholders including executive-level client representatives, EPC contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional leaders.\nLead high-impact project meetings, supplier negotiations, technical alignment sessions, and resolution of critical issues.\nEscalate and resolve complex supplier, technical, commercial, and contractual challenges, leveraging strong decision-making authority.\nOversee formal project correspondence and ensure alignment with contractual, legal, and commercial expectations.\nTechnical & Commercial Governance\nReview and validate complex supplier contracts, bid evaluations, technical specifications, and commercial proposals.\nDirect prioritization and flow of engineering and supplier documentation to ensure schedule adherence.\nEngage end users and technical authorities to ensure operational requirements are fully met and integrated into design and execution packages.\nJob Profile Minimum Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.\nTypically demonstrated by 12+ years of relevant experience in complex technical, equipment, or fabrication project execution.\nProven leadership in managing large-scale, high-value, FOAK, or technically complex project packages.\nDeep understanding of equipment design, manufacturing, fabrication processes, regulatory frameworks, and quality assurance.\nSignificant experience working with Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Project Controls organizations.\nDemonstrated ability to manage cost, schedule, risk, and technical interfaces at a senior level.\nExpertise with project management systems, reporting platforms, and governance processes.\nExceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience reporting to senior executives.\nStrong leadership capabilities with demonstrated success managing cross-functional teams in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.\nLocation: Houston, TX or Gaithersburg, MD \nWork Site Expectations: 4 days onsite\nTravel Expectations: Up to 10% as needed\nHours: 8:00am-5:00pm ET, Monday-Friday\nCompensation\nAs required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).
