Depending on the internship assignment, the intern may work alongside engineers, scientists, or industry professionals to contribute to various projects related to their area of study. Submitting an application places you in consideration for upcoming opportunities as they open.\nWhat You'll Do\nApply systems thinking and take a holistic approach to solve problems, analyze and design systems, considering the interdependencies and interactions between various components.\nAssist in systems engineering lifecycle efforts surrounding:Stakeholder and operational analysis\nRequirement identification, decomposition, and management\nFunctional decomposition and modeling\nLogical system architecture development and modeling\nPhysical product definition, interface management, and change control\nDesign integration and testing\nSystem verification and validation\nConcept of operations development and modeling\n\nDevelop and maintain system behavior models using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools within established Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) frameworks.\nSupport the identification and monitoring of technical risks and the development of risk mitigation strategies.\nSupport value engineering activities including cost analyses, economic feasibility assessments, and cost reduction opportunity identification.\nWrite and review engineering documentation, reports, and communicate technical details and project progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nExecute systems engineering processes within X-energy's quality management framework.\nWork across engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of system components and subsystems.\nPerform work in accordance with X-energy quality assurance procedures to ensure engineering products meet required standards.\nAlways maintain professional demeanor and behavior in all forms of communication.\nPerform other duties as assigned by manager.\nAssist with the day-to-day technical and operational needs of your team.\nConduct research, gather technical data, and synthesize findings to inform ongoing design and analysis initiatives.\nHelp develop reports, technical documentation, and presentations that communicate results to internal stakeholders.\nOrganize and maintain project files, technical records, and documentation to support traceability and quality.\nParticipate actively in team meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions - bringing ideas, asking questions, and offering perspective.\nWhat You'll Bring\nCurrent enrollment in - or recent completion of - a degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.\nAcademic or hands-on knowledge in one or more of the following areas:System Lifecycle Processes (ISO 15288)\nOperational & Stakeholder Analysis\nRequirements Management\nSystem Design & Interface Management\nDesign Integration & Testing\nVerification & Validation\nModel-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools and Methods & Product Lifecycle Management Systemse.g. Teamcenter PLM, Cameo, Capella, Genesys, SysML, and DOORS\n\nSystems modeling and simulation\nInterface control and management\nConfiguration management and change control\nTechnical risk assessment and management\n\nProficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\nCuriosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset - you're eager to learn and ready to contribute.\nApplication Requirements\nAlong with your resume, please submit at least one letter of recommendation.
