We are now looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the structural and mechanical integrity of our electric boats - ensuring that every hull, component, and assembly that leaves Nyköping is designed right, validated correctly, and built to last.\nThis is a leadership role with deep technical ownership. You will guide a small engineering team, drive analysis and simulation work, and be the person who signs off that our mechanical solutions are both safe and manufacturable. The role is based on-site at our office and production facility in Nyköping.\nRole Purpose\nOwn the mechanical engineering function - from concept validation and structural analysis through to production release - ensuring that X Shore boats are designed to specification, analysed to standard, and handed to production with complete and correct documentation.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead mechanical engineering and structural analysis activities across the X Shore product range\n\nDefine and maintain engineering standards, tolerances, and material specifications\n\nReview and approve drawings, 3D models, and engineering change orders\n\nManage product validation testing: define test plans, oversee execution, and sign off results\n\nWork closely with production engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and assembly-ready\n\nLead root cause analysis on field failures, warranty cases, and production non-conformances\n\nMaintain the mechanical BOM structure and ensure drawing revisions are controlled and complete\n\nSupport supplier development - reviewing manufacturing capabilities and engaging on critical components\n\nBuild and develop a small team of mechanical engineers, setting clear priorities and technical standards\n\nContribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and certification activities (e.g. CE, RCD)\n\nOwn FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD simulations - from setup through to results interpretation and design recommendations\n\nTechnical Depth - What We Need\nX Shore builds high-performance electric boats in marine-grade aluminium and composite materials. The Mechanical Engineering Manager must be able to go deep - not just manage the team, but own the analysis work and stand behind the results.\nDefine and execute FEA studies for hull structures, brackets, mounts, and drivetrain interfaces\n\nAssess fatigue life, impact loads, and hydrostatic pressure scenarios relevant to marine certification\n\nInterpret and challenge simulation outputs - know when results are credible and when the model needs revisiting\n\nSpecify and oversee physical testing that correlates with simulation work\n\nDrive design-for-manufacture review: identify tolerance stack-ups, assembly constraints, and production risks before they reach the floor\n\nQualifications\nRequired\nDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent\n\nMinimum 7 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role\n\nStrong working knowledge of CAD - 3D modelling and drawing release in tools such as SOLIDWORKS\n\nExperience in metals and composites - material selection, joining methods, and manufacturing constraints\n\nDocumented experience leading engineering validation: test planning, execution, and sign-off\n\nFluent in English; Swedish is an advantage\n\nAvailable to work on-site in Nyköping\n\nNice to Have\nBackground in marine, automotive, aerospace, or high-performance vehicle engineering\n\nExperience with CE marking, RCD (Recreational Craft Directive), or ISO 12215 hull structural standards\n\nExperience from a company in growth, transformation, or restart phase\n\nFamiliarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP/PLM systems\n\nNon-Negotiables\nRigorous approach to documentation - drawings, reports, and release notes are complete before sign-off\n\nSpeaks up early when a design has a structural risk, regardless of schedule pressure\n\nTakes ownership of problems through to resolution - not just identification\n\nTreats manufacturing constraints as design inputs, not afterthoughts\n\nComfortable leading in an environment where processes are still being built\n\nWhat Good and Bad Look Like\nWhat Good Looks Like\nDesign decisions are backed by analysis before production release\nProduction raises a structural question - engineering has the answer the same day\nTest results correlate with simulation - deviations are explained\nDrawing revisions are controlled and complete - no ambiguity on the floor\nField failures are root-caused with corrective action in place within two weeks\nEngineers know what they are working on, why, and what good looks like\nWhat Bad Looks Like\nDesigns released without structural validation\nProduction finds structural issues during assembly\nTest data filed without interpretation or corrective action\nMultiple drawing versions in circulation simultaneously\nFailures are documented but never actioned\nTeam direction unclear - priorities shift without explanation\nPersonal Qualities\nTo succeed in this role we believe you:\nAre technically rigorous and do not accept 'close enough' when precision matters\n\nAre structured and clear in how you communicate engineering decisions\n\nBuild credibility with production and suppliers through sound technical judgement\n\nAre comfortable in ambiguity and can create structure where little exists\n\nHave strong drive and see problems through to resolution\n\nThrive in a small, fast-moving team where every person's contribution is visible\n\nKey Interfaces\nHead of R&D - direct reporting line; alignment on technical direction, priorities, and resource\n\nProduction Engineering - design-for-manufacture review, assembly support, and non-conformance resolution\n\nProcurement - supplier capability assessment, component specifications, and critical part qualification\n\nQuality - validation testing, field failure analysis, and certification documentation\n\nExternal suppliers and partners - manufacturing review, tooling sign-off, and prototype builds\n\nWhat We Offer\nAt X Shore you get the chance to be part of an exciting journey with significant responsibility and real impact. You will be a central figure in rebuilding the engineering function of a pioneering electric boat company - setting the technical standards that determine whether our boats are safe, reliable, and built right.\nThis is not a caretaker role. It is a building role, and the standards you set today will shape the product for years to come.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6493,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":7,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"Advanced (C1)","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-06T10:35:28Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":11,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.383,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":119,"expected_fill_days":27,"reasons":["conf:3","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-24T06:02:35Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/x-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/x-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-24T21:58:41Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":32150,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-25T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":696394},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=696394"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fx-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fx-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fx-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/x-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fx-shore-mechanical-engineering-manager"}]}
