We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.\nABOUT THE ROLE:\nWe are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Engineer to execute the buildout, startup, and handover of electrical systems for SpaceXAI's high-performance data centers. This is a hands-on role where you will commission, test, troubleshoot, and turn over critical systems that support next-generation AI supercomputing infrastructure.\nYou will work closely with construction, engineering, operations, EPC contractors, and OEM vendors to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality electrical systems. This is a full-time, onsite role with travel to SpaceXAI data center construction sites across the United States.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nExecute all electrical commissioning activities for MV/LV switchgear, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, ATS/STS, transformers, relays, busway, and associated controls in hyperscale data center environments.\nExecute functional performance testing, pre-functional testing, site acceptance testing, load-bank testing, protection-relay testing, integrated system testing, and system turnover to operations.\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex electrical, controls, and process issues during pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup phases.\nDevelop and review detailed commissioning test procedures, scripts, checklists, and documentation in alignment with project specifications, industry standards, and SpaceXAI requirements.\nCoordinate with EPC contractors, OEM vendors, design engineers, and SpaceXAI stakeholders for system energization, startup sequences, and integrated system validation.\nChampion safety by enforcing strict adherence to LOTO, NFPA, OSHA, and SpaceXAI safety protocols; participate in daily safety briefings and job hazard analyses.\nMaintain comprehensive as-built documentation, test records, issue logs, and final commissioning reports.\nSupport and deliver training programs for operations and maintenance teams on commissioned systems.\nParticipate in constructability reviews, design feedback sessions, and lessons-learned meetings to continuously improve installation quality and future project execution.\nSupport commissioning schedules and punch-list resolution to meet aggressive project timelines.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.\n5+ years of experience in commissioning for electrical systems.\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nWorking knowledge of commissioning test equipment (power analyzers, insulation testers, hipot testers, torque tools, IR cameras, load banks, relay test sets, etc.), or demonstrated aptitude to learn it in the field.\nFamiliarity with relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70/70B/70E, IEEE, NETA, NESC, Uptime Institute).\nAbility to read, interpret, and redline electrical drawings, one-lines, three-lines, control schematics, and sequence of operations; update as-built models after commissioning.\nExperience coordinating with multi-discipline teams, contractors, and vendors in construction environments.\nAbility to work safely in industrial construction environments and follow LOTO, NFPA, OSHA, and SpaceXAI safety protocols.\nCommissioning experience, including functional performance testing, pre-functional testing, site acceptance testing, load-bank testing, protection-relay testing, integrated system testing, and system turnover.\nData center systems and prior work on mission-critical projects \nHands-on experience with EPMS, BMS/BAS, and power-system controls troubleshooting and integration (Modbus, BACnet, etc.).\nKnowledge of refrigerant systems, direct liquid cooling, and advanced heat rejection technologies.\nCurrent OSHA 30 certification or equivalent.\nProficiency with commissioning management platforms (CxPro, Procore, PlanGrid, or similar).\nExperience implementing integrated systems testing, owner’s project requirements verification, and feeding as-built data back into the sitewide power model (load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash).\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nWillingness to travel extensively and work extended hours, nights, and weekends during critical commissioning and startup windows.\nAbility to travel extensively to SpaceXAI construction sites and remain onsite for extended periods during peak commissioning phases.\nPhysical capability to work in industrial environments, climb ladders/stairs, lift moderate loads (up to 50 lbs), and wear full PPE for long durations.\nValid driver’s license and ability to meet SpaceXAI's driver eligibility requirements.\nSpaceXAI is an equal opportunity employer.
