We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.\nABOUT THE ROLE:\nWe’re seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead mission-critical build efforts for on-site power generation. As a key on-site leader, you’ll bring credibility, expertise, and steady leadership to fast-paced, high-impact plant projects. You’ll own site relationships, collaborate with engineering, operations, and construction teams, and report to construction leadership.\nIf you thrive on hands-on leadership, complex industrial and electrical construction, and delivering gas turbine generation, balance-of-plant, and medium-voltage infrastructure at scale, join us to help build the power plant that supports SpaceXAI’s high-density AI supercomputing facilities.\nThis is a full-time, onsite role based in Southaven, MS with relocation required.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nAct as the senior construction representative for the Memphis / Southaven power generation plant, managing relationships with EPC contractors, OEMs, trade partners, and internal stakeholders.\nOversee end-to-end project execution from pre-construction and site development through mechanical completion, commissioning, energization, and turnover to operations.\nCoordinate multiple vendors across civil, mechanical, process, and electrical scopes - including gas turbine packages, generators, fuel gas and BOP systems, e-houses, protection, and 34.5 kV collect/export.\nProactively identify and mitigate risks to schedule, quality, safety, and operational readiness for first fire, synchronization, and commercial operation.\nDrive progress on generation and BOP construction, resolving field roadblocks so turbine, electrical, and process work stay sequenced and on track.\nAlign construction schedules with SpaceXAI’s generation and infrastructure goals through cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and central construction.\nPartner with engineering and operations to guide commissioning, start-up, and punchlist close-out; resolve issues that block energization or generation.\nDeliver regular updates using well-designed KPIs and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.\nEnsure the project meets technical and quality standards in the base design, including plant electrical, mechanical, and process systems.\nPerform quantity take-offs and field verifications to monitor progress and support reporting.\nManage change orders, identifying solutions to minimize unnecessary changes and control costs.\nLead site safety initiatives, including LOTO, NFPA 70E / arc-flash, hot work, and a consistent construction safety culture.\nAdapt to evolving plant needs, supporting cross-functional partners as required, regardless of original job scope.\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:\n5+ years of experience managing large-scale power generation, industrial plant, or other mission-critical construction projects.\nDeep expertise in construction management, commissioning, and site operations.\nProven ability to lead on-site with authority and build trust with vendors, OEMs, partners, and technical teams.\nExperience managing large programs with multiple vendors and dynamic priorities.\nStrong communication skills across disciplines, from field updates to technical escalations.\nThrives in solving complex, real-time problems with adaptability and composure.\nBe able to travel as needed.\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:\nDirect experience constructing or expanding gas turbine, combined-cycle, or similar generating plants.\nExperience with medium-voltage electrical construction (switchgear, transformers, e-houses, collect/export, protection) and mechanical / process BOP (fuel gas, water, compressed air).\nExperience with OEM turbine package installation, interconnection, and commissioning support.\nPrevious experience on power plants serving data centers, hyperscale, or other high-reliability industrial loads.\nFamiliarity with local Memphis / Mississippi building codes, utility interconnection, and plant permitting.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex construction challenges in an operating or near-operating plant.\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:\nPosition is subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.\nPosition is subject to pre-employment and annual post-employment background checks.\nComfortable working in an environment requiring exposure to noise.\nAvailable to work evenings and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required.\nAbility to lift 25+ pounds.\nSpaceXAI is an equal opportunity employer.
